(pardon my lack of Drakenguard knowledge) I love how the modern world gives a big old middle finger to the fantasy medieval world that the dragon popped out of by killing the dragon with 2 missiles, showing an extreme superiority in firepower, then the medieval fantasy world gives a big old middle finger to the modern world by causing the entire world to go down a path of chaos, gestalts, alien invasions, emil existing, and 14 machine wars.

So here's a creepy little tidbit for those who don't know: While this battle was taking place, throughout the city, there were multiple reports coming in from citizens that talked about hearing bells chiming loudly. But according to information, there were no such recordings of bells ringing or anything at all; Because those sounds were inside their minds. And unfortunately- the bells playing are the beginning symptoms of white chlorination syndrome. People were unknowingly infected by a magical borne illness, and the governments had to turn this whole city into a massive quarantine zone completely walled off, citizens included.

Perhaps an outsider had interfered. Will continue to investigate.” Soooo idk, according to that little entry (and keep in mind, i just wrote that down from my memory so its not a word for word quote from the game) im assuming that the body couldnt be retrieved by the government due to some other outside organization. Edit: I tried to go back and find the exact document or entry that I read in the game just to refresh my mind after having seen this video but so far I haven’t found it- so, im currently wondering if i somehow went crazy for a minute during a loading screen and completely disillusioned myself or the document actually exists and it just hasnt been uploaded online yet 🙃

Ending A/Timeline A: The day is _barely_ saved. The Empire has harnessed the power of the Watchers to destroy everything, but Midgard remains isolated from Earth, the Watchers and their power remain sealed away, and Manah will live with the guilt and weight of her and her cult's actions. But Caim has lost his sister and his friend, causing him to go mad and wonder the world a broken, psychopathic husk of what he already was, ending the story on a somewhat definitive bittersweet note until the drums of war sound once again in the 2005 game Drakengard 2. Ending E/Timeline B: In a nod to The End of Evangelion, Midgard makes contact with Earth. The Watchers have wrecked everything back there but their Queen has vanished to Earth alongside Caim and Angelus. The two defeat the Queen Watcher only to be shot down by a fighter either named Scarface (a nod to Ace Combat)/Bravo-1, but then, offscreen, the Queen's husk proceeds to let out a biological virus, turning our Earth into the world of NieR, beginning a franchise that has spawned games and Japanese stage plays alike. Also, the Queen Watcher was actually [supposedly] this annoying F-bomb dropping sex-obsessed "villain" protagonist named Zero, but only die hard NieR/Yoko Taro fans care about her and her story (damn bleakness and localisers).
@JabamiLain Жыл бұрын
Only in the american version. In the Japanese version, Zero is actually pretty neutral and nihilistic in her approach to everyone and everything, only showing genuine emotions towards Mikhail, Michael and her sister 1. And the sex part...she actually doesn't really enjoy it. But for some reason, it's the only way her Disciples can syphon the Flower/Watchers's power from her. It only seems like she enjoys it, because the Flower's draining power causes her to experience some sort of hangover whenever she doesn't perform the syphoning.
@NebLleb Жыл бұрын
@@JabamiLain Oh, so Drakengard 3 suffered from Localisation issues when it made it westside. But seriously, I find it fascinating that a janky Action JRPG from the year 2003 could spawn both a direct, conclusive sequel two years later and a franchise of spiritual sequels (NieR) by the original director using the strangest ending as a basis. And in an age of Soulsbornes, Drakengard, a game that features all the dark fantasy goodness you could crave alongside a more simplistic style of gameplay, could be the perfect Soulsborne Painkiller (something to alleviate the stress of these difficult action RPGs) if they remake it, because... The game is a 6/10 guilty pleasure overall, but IMAGINE what would happen if they went back, added in new features and QOL improvements. If NieR Gestalt/Replicant could be remastered and rebalanced, Drakengard can be remade and it can be a genuine blast.

@@miphasgrace8980 for me it was the length, and the invisible note at the end, the queen beast is only couple minutes vs the 7+ minutes in 3's fight, and tbh, I don't study music or rythem, 3's took me maybe an hour to beat, queen beast is a bit more reactionary. You can see the white or black coming and react to it (it was hard though), but your timing was looser, where as in 3, your timing had to be spot on the the music. 3's final fight ended up being 1 of my favorites of all time though, such a good song.

@JabamiLain Жыл бұрын
Considering I think endings D and E happened at the same time, and that "Drakengard" is actually the "Nier" world in the past, I think what happened to Midgard/Europe, is that it was frozen in time by Seere, but not before the Mother severed herself from her womb in order to try and escape into Cathedral city in another time period. In this case its version before the time travel the humans and androids during the alien invasion performed.
@granixo Жыл бұрын

I think that kinda proves my theory that endings D and E are both canon, and that the Mother narrowly escaped the time freeze by traveling through time to a version of Cathedral city/Tokyo that is set before the time travel the humans and androids during the alien invasion performed. I am a theorist who believes in the "Unreliable narrator" theory for the "Drakengard" games.

@@JabamiLain I have no idea what you're talking about but cool.
@JabamiLain Жыл бұрын
@@edorasmarauder5761 long story short, originally, this saga's world was like ours. But when the aliens in "Nier" invaded our planet, some people tried to go back in time in order to prepare earlier for the invasion, but something happened and instead, the Tokyo's district that they were in was sent into medieval Europe, dragging the aliens, humans, androids and machines in the district with the city. The city later becomes known as the "Cathedral city", and when the Watchers descend to destroy the Earth, the first game's ending D happens (the one in which the boy named Seere freezes the entire continent in time). However, I theorize that at the same time, the Queen Beast tries to escape this destiny by cutting herself off from her womb and leaving it behind, jumping into the light portal beneath her body and ending up in Tokyo in this new timeline's future (the timeline we know as "Drakengard/Nier"). A future in which no time travel seems to have befallen the city (not yet anyway). It seems however that while she did manage to escape, her body remained partially stuck, being able to only use the power of her song to attack us. Was I clear now ?
