You make sailing seem so hard.

This sail wasn’t very hard. But this one was: An 1100 nautical mile offshore sail straight to Svalbard in the Arctic Circle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGexi32dp9Sce5Isi=eflEZlmVIWNCMXSs

@@drakeParagon : ) Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them before... I'll take a closer look at them though. You were a baby in that older video. Thanks for all the videos you make. Fair winds.

That was a lot of waves for not that ,far off shore! Isn't there a Getty Museum in Bilbao ?. there for the light ? Not that you got any! Do you worry about being that,far east? Isn't the wind mainly from.the west on The north coast of Spain ? Still visiting with family Should be a good time. Cheers Warren

What are the protocols for entry to Spain by personal craft? Do you have to contact harbor master and do paperwork? Different rules for anchoring vs. docking/mooring?
@drakeParagon
@drakeParagon 3 ай бұрын
As soon as we arrived in Spain, in a marina Gijon, Spain, customs agents arrived at our boat and we filled out the paperwork. You're required to have your passports, boat documentation, and boat insurance. Spain is a part of the Schengen Agreement, so if you are from the US or UK then you are limited to staying only 3 months in the Schengen zone. You have to get out before the 3 months is up, and then you have to be out of the Schengen zone for 3 months before you can return. There are tons of great anchorages all over Spain (and France!), and unlike Morocco, you don't have to fill out paperwork every time you move the boat.

Not feelin’ the Hydrovane or is it just easier using the regular autopilot in some situations?
@drakeParagon
@drakeParagon 3 ай бұрын
The Hydrovane has worked fantastic for us on some very long offshore voyages, but I haven't opted to use it yet in very close to dead downwind conditions, like much of this sail was, where there's more chance of accidentally gybing. But eventually we'll publish videos of using using the Hydrovane for countless hours at a time. We're really impressed with it. - Drake

You previously had a Vagabond 42 - I just bought one - where is the fuel gauge? water gauge? Thanks
@drakeParagon

Congrats on your purchase of a Vagabond 42. I’m not very familiar with that boat, as I was only just crewing on a short passage on one 15 years ago. 😊

Seems you never have any engine problems nor have I seen you do much diesel maintenance - all good. Other channels seem to constantly have problems with fuel, water intakes, fuel filters, backflow into the water outflow, engine mounts, shaft drive problems including alignment and lubrication, running out of fuel and having to prime the injector lines. Perhaps your decades of experience enables you to anticipate what the engine needs.
