He's back! Our friend and fantastic crew Éanna is joining us in Ireland to sail across the dreaded Bay of Biscay to Spain! He's got two weeks off of work which means we've got to get going. A schedule and sailing don't mix...have we made the right decision?

Knowing how to leave the dock in such conditions is called seamanship. Glad to see you back with Eanna, Cheers, Richard

Only time for the fist 20 minutes, but man what a great start. It is sooooooo good to have a crew of 3 over a couple. The whole group dynamic changes. The past video series of DrakeParagon with 'Eanna as crew were the best videos I have watched in the past 18 years of KZbin!

I love the way you guys got right to work briefing as soon as he boarded. Really shows your care to safety, and preparedness. Tons of info and planning right off the bat. Putting him at ease instantly. You can tell you guys are true shipmates. I lost it when I thought you were pulling away from the dock, and Drake said, "dont go slow, Mo". I'm sorry, but I would have had to pretend to be in slow motion.

It is indeed a great feeling of satisfaction when everything goes after the plan docking off the boat with the wind pushing you on the dock. Funny, I had to do the same thing today but backing on starboard instead and taking off forward to port trying to go free from a boat docked in front of me. My boat is only 28 foot but doing it solo was a bit of a nerve wracking! It worked out smooth after my plan though. Sailing Sweden now. Great to see Éanna again.

Plan, plan, plan, .... and contingency! Well done. Getting off with a wind blowing onto the dock is so hard, but you did an excellent, text-book demonstration of how to do it right. Good to see you back Eanna. I'm looking forward to seeing the Biscay crossing, and especially the coat of Portugal, given the recent orca activity.

Hey Guys! Greetings from a liveaboard in Viveiro! Spoilerwarning I guess, but I saw you coming in here a while ago and I thought, jeez it's Paragon! Your channel was one of the few reasons i bought a boat myself and jumpstart my life on the water. Anyhow, If you are back in Viveiro and need anything, tools, a hand or a drink, feel free to knock on deck of my little Jenneau Fantasia :-)

Is it not red to port and green to starboard in Ireland. I’m no expert
@drakeParagon
@drakeParagon 6 ай бұрын
Hi, my understanding is that in the USA, when you are in a channel and returning to a port, you keep the red buoys on your starboard and green to port to stay in the channel. The old memory trick is "Red, Right, Returning". In the UK and Ireland, it's the opposite, so when you're returning to a port you would keep the red buoys to port instead of starboard to stay in the channel. But in this video, instead of entering the port, we were leaving it, so it's the opposite... so red to starboard, green to port.
