I'll straight up admit that I did something similar to the guy who avoided raiding naxx10. I didn't know that Naxx10 was considered to be basically a 10-man version of a heroic 5-man, so I was all worried that I didn't have the stats as a disco priest to get through it. Then my guildies informed me I was being silly and had me come along anyways. I did just fine and I felt dumb.

Great stories! That last one though.. Tough for me to pick a side. Gaming should be casual and fun, however, when you join a guild, some responsibility is expected... Showing up late to raids should be punished.... After all, you don't HAVE to join guilds to raid anymore (Mythic raiding being the only exception, and even then, can be PuG'd). You shouldn't show up to a raid 2 mins late, or even at raid time. You should show up early, and show your guild that you actually care... and if you do end up being late to something, and you get punished for it...well, don't get so butt-hurt about it. You were late...you got punished...Move on, and don't be late again. Or leave the guild, and stop joining things that have requirements you don't intend to respect....You can PuG all content in this game. You don't have to be in a guild to raid anymore. Just my 2 cents.
