I've only been in *one* guild I had to apply for through a website. It was a huge hassle to even get accepted. The guild master and I wrote about a dozen emails back and forth before he finally deemed me worthy to join. I was with them through the end of BC and the beginning of Wrath. Overall, our raids were fairly successful... but I left because of the strict nature of the guild itself. For example, all us guildies had to wear guild tabards during group activites (dungeons, raids, etc.). This was mainly so the guild master could take screenshots of us for the website. I could only tolerate living under super strict (and completely frivolous) regulations for a short while before I had to bail. Unfortunately it's hard to find a guild that's in the "sweet spot"... not too strict but not full of antisocial solo players.

Not really. The guild im in is really lax yet gets the high end progression that i want to see. Show up to raids and be prepared really isn't strict imo

Sebastian Schank Sounds like you just got lucky tbh. I personally find it really hard to find a guild in the sweet spot. Just showing up to raids and being prepared isn't strict enough for me by any means, there's quite a bit more to it.

I've had to jump over hoops to join a guild and in the end found that it was dead and far from raid ready. A lot guilds have applications that just aren't needed, they are dimwitted conformists imo.

Actually had a warrior who needed the staff in DM and won it. This was my wery first dungeon and as a Mage I really wanted that staff. Not the same guy tho but the same logic. "This has better DPS than my sword." Never saw that staff drop again.
