TLOPO btw is a fan rerelease of Pirates of the Caribbean Online The original ran for many years, even if it lacked active development, til it was axed by Bob Iger with all of disneys other projects TLOPO is made by people who actually purchased the code from disney and is still actively being developed with new content disney had talked about but never made. Its fun for what it is, and TLOPO is of course entirely free And it is in fact a full size MMO

The original Pirates of the Caribbean online was the first MMO that I played as a kid before I got pulled into WoW and it was insanely badass. I would sail around looting and plundering for 12+ hours straight on the weekends to distract myself from my irl being shitty and I absolutely loved it!

Back when I last played I ended up becoming the HR officer for my guild mostly due to a joke. Like, it's not like we set out intending to have HR and I didn't seek the role out or anything; I just happened to be an officer that diffused a lot of drama and dealt with interpersonal issues often and so other officers/members jokingly called me HR and eventually it stuck.

Pirates of the Caribbean Online was my first MMO. And it was so good. I played it From it’s launch all the way until Wrath launch were I switched it WoW. It was an amazing game, the sailing was super cool and the perfect game for my little 12 year old self. It was better than Vanilla WoW for me. I will stand by this statement until the day i die.

Arent warriors playing mostly fury in classic, why would they need Askandi, its a pvp weapon, so mostly rets and hunters would be able to use it in pve content and ret is seen as a meme spec in classic, i dont see any issue with a hunter getting that sword.

Four years ago I was in a casual heroic-only guild with some very strict rules about attendance. Loot was distributed based on % of attendance, as you might imagine missing a raid for a day - regardless of the reason - could leave you as less priority for loot for the rest of the tier. If you didn't miss a raid for a whole month (and the guild raided 5 days per week, 2 hours per day), you'd get a missed day of attendance restored. It also had a "medal" system that involved a monthly poll, where guild members had to vote for who had been the best tank, best healer, best ranged dps and best melee dps on that month. The winners got a medal (displayed on the guild website) which gave them the right to loot one item they wanted bypassing the attendance system. They would only not get the item if someone else decided to use his medal and had more attendance than them. As an officer of that guild, I had to explain this convoluted system to everyone we recruited before they were allowed to raid, and invariably every new recruit said they were fine with it, until of course they weren't. Some of them quit in a rage when they didn't get an item, others just created drama about it or wanted to introduce rule changes tailored to their situation, at some point a group of the unhappy people started to use their vote in the poll to vote for people who were clearly shit at the game just to upset the leadership. Tears, drama, all in a guild whose goal in life was just to clear heroic!

That last one was just cringe as fuck. It wasn't even interesting or anything, it was just frustratingly cringe. It's not healthy to view a video game that way, in my honest opinion. This coming from a guy who played wow vanilla and still comes back for a few months a year. He gave his hobby that was supposed to be a fun experience, so much more power than anyone should give their recreational hobby.

English speaking people not understanding people who cant make the same sounds with their mouths as them is a classic. Thats why I laugh at them when they try to pronounce something that the english language borrowed from french and they inevitably fuck it up, taste of their own medicine I guess.

Most of the french that the English language ‘borrowed’ was actually brought over by the normans so although it’s origin is french it’s now firmly buried in modern English - so you can’t really say the English - or English speaking nations are mis pronouncing it because it’s English not french. There aren’t many words still used that keep their true origin from the french word. Example of what I’m saying are beef, pork etc french words transformed into modern English from a long long time ago
