If the ABB had only recorded this one song, they'd still be legendary.

In my opinion, one of the greatest live performances ever laid down. By the way, that's how you react to a song. Fantastic work DramaSyd!

This performance is still considered the greatest, most influential live album of all time.

I’m 72 years old and I’ve been to many concerts. Saw ABB, live at painters mill music fair in 71. The venue was a theatre in the round, best show ever

This album was released in 1971, about a year after I graduated high school. I think I just about wore the grooves off the record I played it so much. All of the tracks are outstanding, but a couple of my favorites are One Way Out, Hot 'lanta and Must Have Done Somebody Wrong. A bit of trivia about In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. Dickie Betts wrote the tune and I read an interview with him many years ago where he said he got the name from a tombstone. He was with some girl in a cemetery and there was a tombstone they were...leaning .. against and written on it was "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed". He was stuck for a title for this tune at the time and decided to use that.

@Gregory Tyska Yep, you're right about One Way Out. I was thinking of Done Somebody Wrong. I'm old, I get things mixed up sometimes.... lol.

What a band. Maybe the best live album ever. The longer these live songs the better. They really get into it and the songs get better as they play through it. In Memory of Elizabeth Reed is mesmerizing.

Fantastic live version from a legendary live recording. A great Dickie Betts track with extended solos from him, Gregg Allman and Duane Allman. Certainly always enjoy hearing it.

When that drum finish sets in, it's Butch starting off then Jaimoe comes in and it really answers the question about, "why two drummers?"

Hey man, sorry I was late to the party but, this is one of my favorite Allman Brothers tunes ... well hell, of ANYONE'S tunes. They invented fusion, as far as I know but, it don't matter ... they were the masters of it, for sure !!! Great reaction, man ... you did it just right !!!

Great reaction. I totally agree. It’s best not to interruption this song, as you might miss the flow of the song. That guitar solo by Duane Allman beginning around the seven minute mark into the song shows why he is in the top tier of guitar players of all time. My favorite guitar player. Not sure sure if you have listened to One Way Out or Statesboro Blues. They showcase Duane’s slide guitar. Blue Sky (studio version) really shows his picking skills. I believe he is the most versatile guitar player ever.

Johanson and Trucks on drums really need to be mentioned here, how they work so well together, so driving, so seamless. Then of course you've got the guitars, Betts and Allman with Greg on the keys. The musicianship is just, as you said, off the charts. That is some serious A1 sauce right there, ya got some.

Nice to see a reaction off of one of the longer songs from at Fillmore East. Most reactions that i see go off of the studio albums which are great but this album is a masterpiece. Two others off this album that you may want to consider is "you don't love me" and the live version of "Whipping Post". They are roughly 17 and 23 minutes respectively.

Great rock band from the 70's that mixed blues, jazz & country music in their sound. They had lots of great songs such as "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed", "Whipping Post", "Melissa", "Blue Sky", "Ramblin' Man" etc. One of my favorites is their instrumental "Jessica" which was written by guitarist Dickey Betts & named after his daughter.

So good to hear this again. Dickie, Gregg and Duane at their best. So many genres in one song. This album is a landmark in music history IMO. Another excellent instrumental is Jessica from the Brothers and Sisters album. This was flat out 🔥

One of the greatest songs ever of any genre. The ABB could jam like no other and were so melodic. Thanks for your great reaction. I've been listening to this song since it came out and it still moves me every time I hear it. And no telling how great Duane would've become.

The 70's rocked. Such talent and dedication to the art of actually playing real instruments together. The only 'effects' they had at the time was reverb and overdriven amplifiers. This kind of musicianship only exists today in unlabeled bands playing small gigs for people who appreciate real raw talent an soul.

These guys defied the "southern rock" label. They were as diverse as any rock band of that era or any other. I was watching how you reacted to the different guitar parts and trust me, it's Dwayne who you're most moved by. Betts was a great guitarist but Dwayne was on another level.
