Dramatic Devil Story (Disgaea D2 Final Boss Theme)

I was hoping for a new version of "Disgaea" to play, especially once it started playing in cut scene, but this is still a really awesome final boss theme. Probably my favorite one since "Disgaea".

My story involving the last boss involved me siccing an absurdly overpowered prinny on him, dood.

THIS FINAL BOSS! I had quite the experience fighting this final boss. Since the final boss gets stronger the more we gank on him, I had to keep everyone far apart and use skirmishing tactics so that the boss does as little damage as possible every turn or else I risk everyone getting one-shotted at once. Asagi, of all people, ends up being used a lot since she's the only one with a gun and range (I never thought I'd actually use her so seriously.). Even with lots of cannon fodder and skirmishing, it was a really long and arduous battle. Everyone in the party ends up KO'd, in no shape to fight, a low level unused character, or a healer with no damage capabilities. Even my overlevelled Laharl got smashed. I end up with having only one unit slot left, and the only damage dealer I have left is my low health dullahan, Ulysses. With the boss being at low health, right next to the spawn point, and me only having one unit left. That dullahan I once captured for shits and giggles managed to deal the finishing blow to end the closest fight I've ever had. And so I won the game. It's the best final boss fight I ever had. Even though the story and character disappointed me, this final battle made the game for me.

first time I won, I didn't really understand strategizing in games that much, so I ended up with kind of a very bad party with only glass cannon mages (even my Laharl sucked). In the end, everyone kind of dropped like flies, except... Flonne, kind of, uh, refused to die? She just wouldn't, and I didn't even give her ANY tankiness. The fight became: My turn. Move Flonne away from the boss. Mega Heal. End turn. Xenolith comes, takes off tons of her health in one attack. Flonne counters. His turn ends. And rinse and repeat. It was kind of REALLY stupid, but he wasn't able to kill her, so... I won.

My ONLY complaint was not being able to have Xenolith's human form in my party. He's one of, if not my favorite disgaea character. Well, he's tied with prinny kurtis. Because Kurtis

Well we got a different final boss as a recruit-able character so I think that is good, maybe they will continue to do this moving forward past D5. D5 is my favorite at this point just due to the sheer effort that went into getting everyone adapted to the Revenge system. So satisfying!

Felis Honaka I agree cause is D5 Majorita void and Goldion were recruitible in post games so etnas brother should have been playable so that we can see a post game of the aftermath like larhal and his group go somewhere then they see etnas brother is alive but other demons or his evil heart are trying to end after all the trouble he caused so Laharl and the group get in the way then after they beat them Laharl ask etnas brother why his here, and he explains that he wants to take responsibility for his actions the same way void from D5 wanted to take responsibility. Laharl thinks that he is lying, and right before he is about to finish him off etnas stops Laharl and tells him let xenoloth take responsibility for his actions by assisting us then Laharl thinks about for a second and he allows it. That’s how he would have been recruited in the post game just like void Majorita and Goldion

I've heard many people say that, but I don't understand. Nemo was way harder for me. So was the final boss in Disgaea 1. I wasn't even that high leveled. 10 Units in the level 60-70 range. Were all of you just running through the game with a superleveled Laharl as your only unit and letting Xenolith's evility absorb his stats? He wasn't that hard with a balanced and equally leveled group.

Ok, let me remember how my latest, most recent time went... I kind of had a very weak party since I was too lazy to go to the item world, so mostly my Laharl was overpowered with some supporting party members. I wasted most of the party on those fire dudes to preserve the actual good ones. What ensued was that I only had my Laharl and some mages and healers left to use, which was fine. Basically, Laharl would deal massive damage to the boss, and I had two other characters on the field, with staves, supporting Laharl. One of them was an onmyo monk guy, Edgeworth, who just used healing spells to keep the others alive, and occasionally, Star, when healing wasn't needed. The other was... A lady warrior... With a staff. Her name was Nadia, and her spells were all buffs, debuffs and, the most powerful of all... Espoir. So she kind of just sat by Laharl's side, spamming Shield and Braveheart, and the occasional Magic Boost on Edgeworth. She was actually very important for my victory, even if she was a warrior with a staff. Her attacking stats were a tragedy, so her being near Laharl barely even made an impact on the boss' stats. And I just kind of deleted the boss by spamming skills with a buffed up Laharl. Kinda wish I had a more emotional story, but I already knew what to prepare before this boss, so... I knew not to have a party full of idiotic glass cannons who get one shot and accomplish nothing.

Disgaea D2 has the best soundtrack of all the others... Disgaea 7, despite being a good game (it doesn't come close to 5), has a very weak soundtrack compared to the previous ones.

What's with people having their levels in hundreds against a level 80 Final Boss? (My whole party was 50-70, with Laharl the highest at 73...) Had to sacrifice a chara per turn by lifting Xeno and having a Gunner with the Evility "Marking" (subsequent attacks in a combo have 100% accuracy) to ensure my attackers hit him, though.

Yeah, but that's just BARELY with a great strategy. Think about those without a prepared strategy and who tried to attack him the normal way. All I needed was 3 characters. What I did was: Get a Lv 90 Laharl to attack him, place Lv 70 Barbara next to Laharl (and make sure she has a good defense stat) then make her defend, then put a good healer behind Laharl to heal the 2 other characters. The final boss will always attack the strongest, so I made sure Laharl was the strongest. His only attack pattern won't be able to hit the ones standing beside and behind the main target. And this is better then 10 characters since he gets weaker with less characters on the field. So just keep having Laharl attacking, Barbara defending and the healer healing (obviously) and when you run out of SP, I just used Laharl to use items to put it back up. Checkmate!

Evan Decker I didn't prepare on my first time, though and got my ass neatly handed to me. (I wouldn't have had the stats to bulldoze through Xenolith, he'd kill ANY chara I had, defending or not), so had to come up with something else as I didn't feel like grinding :D

I love this theme even if the final boss is SO overpowered!!! The previous boss fight with him only needed my characters like Lv 70-80. THIS ONE, I needed characters over level 90 and most people used characters over Lv 100. What's worse is you can't restart the boss fight because if you lose, BAD END, START THE ENTIRE GAME OVER! And to top it all off, in order to get to this boss fight, you have do the previous boss fight ALL OVER again!!

I got the bad ending on purpose because my goal is to do everything so I guess something goos comes out of losing, I guess. If you're goal is just beating the game, though... yeah I hope you saved before hand.

killickan You CAN'T save before the final boss. One you do the second last stage, you HAVE to do the final boss immediately!!! It's so stupid especially since there's a HUGE level gap in between the last 2 levels.

I meant before the fight before the last boss when you fight Xenolith without the artifact completely taking over his body. Sorry for the... uh... misunderstanding I guess would be the right word for this. The last chance you had to save is what I meant.

I beat Laminton on my first try. While not a really easy boss, he didn't OHKO half my party like Xenolith did.

Yeah, Xenolith was a pain. I just got the Pure Stick, leveled up my Galaxy Mage and a Clio to lv. 456, and taught them both tera star. About 4 shots from both of them (and half my other people wiped out by his ultimate...) and I beat him.

I just got the game 2 Days ago and got to him... my highest character a male fighter using axes got DESTROYED by him in one sweep! This boss fight is not to be taken lightly! And the theme to him is just perfectly fitting!

Took me 2 Overlord dimensions with a Lvl 323 Laharl to beat him, I don't know why so many people regard Xenolith as the hardest final boss.

Myrmidon Radd Lol I beat him on my first try with a level 125 laharl and by sacrificing all my characters so that laharl could overlords dimension him every turn when it came down to it, i was a single strike from losing but i was unbelievably lucky.

I really wish they would of used a different art style like they did with every other new installment of disgaea. or at least the D3 art style. Cameos could also use more diversity. :/ On a lighter note, I really do like this theme, But I'm even more hyped for "Disgaea 2013" (the song, not the game ;)

I'm just saying, IMO, judging by the battle cuts you use in this video, the style looks almost identical to disgaea 4, as oppose to the more darker and sharper style of D3, or D2's more portrait-esque style. You know, looking back actually, I'm an idiot. I probably could have used the Armor Knight's evility that allows her to protect anyone on the map. Would have made the fight MUCH easier. I would still have to spread out my characters but regardless.

Heh, it was sorta the reverse for me. I was able to beat Nemo on my first try. :P Although I haven't gotten to the "true ending" in 4. The Seraph was also hard. Although at least he didn't absorb my characters stats and have me go through two stages without saving. But yeah, my strategy to beating Xenolith was to have my units all spread out and have my skull riding his dragon use Giga Star on him while he was constantly being healed. I had Laharl and my other mages back him up as well.

Eh, everybody else is doing it, I may as well. My story for this final boss is basically I was on my 5th or 6th cycle because I was getting every ending I could find. Even then I was about level 75~80 with all of my characters, and I forgot to go grab Asagi again so I was one person short. Even then I managed to kill all of the Ifrits (or whatever they're called) and knock Xenolith down to about 1/3 of his health. And then I lost. So I go through the game again, have all of my characters anywhere from level 92~101 and fought Xenolith again. It came down to my THIEF of all people and repeatedly using Point Blank... I forgot the name of the skill and I'm not going to bother to look. Long story short I beat Xenolith with just my Thief left and had about 5% of my HP left. I don't see why people have such a hard time with this boss though. Once you figure out his evility (which is easy to figure out), I just stayed at maximum distance away from Xenolith and as for his move... again forgot the name of it, I arranged my characters so he couldn't hit big groups of my characters. Of course I'm not saying he's not challenging, he's one of the most difficult final bosses I have ever face, but, really, come on. Xenolith isn't THAT hard.

If you're talking about the Fuka and Desco post-game DLC, then I haven't done that yet so I wouldn't know. But whatever, you're opinion. ... Although I do agree Xenolith isn't THAT difficult.

Everyone seems to be telling their stories, so I'll share mine. I had just taken out the final Ifrit before he saunters up and kills two of my best units (Etna and Asagi) in one go. I kept backing up and spamming meteors with Laharl but he eventually caught up and killed him without any trouble. Running out of options I called out my female brawler who I now have named "Master" because she took him out almost single-handedly. I kept using Beast King to make sure he was nowhere near my heal-station (healer+iron knight). It was crazy to watch because he kept his focus on my brawler and not on my healer, actually he didn't attack the healer at all if memory serves right. Eventually I won with my brawler at incredibly low health but chose to take a risk and it payed out incredibly well.
