Japan is facing a historic blizzard that is burying cities and isolating thousands of people. In Hokkaido, Obihiro recorded 120 cm of snow in just 12 hours, while Memuro accumulated 105 cm. Temperatures plummeted to -12°C, causing chaos in transportation and requiring emergency efforts to remove the snow. Aomori had to invest a record budget to combat the accumulation, and at ARAI Snow Resort the snow has already reached 5.26 meters. Authorities warn of new severe episodes.
