Thank you so much Im in 8th grade and in a program that makes us do science fair every year of middle school I still love science but not as much as I used to I will definitely never be doing science fair again lol but this helped me a lot and I took lots of notes and I will be relieved to get to use this information to my advantage. Such a great explanation of how to structure the abstract section. Actually, the abstract is taking a bit from each main chapter of your paper or dissertation and merge them together as one paragraph to represent the whole written work.

My focus has to do with: how to look for reading materials on the topic, how to read it, what to look for when reading the materials, how to take notes when reading the topic materials, how to arrange those important facts/data, and how to use such data in preparing the research document.

It is best practice to avoid references in your abstract as it should be a stand-alone reflection to your own work.

If your professor does this, he knows nothing about writing. It should be done when your research writing is completed, and should be between 150 - 250 words.
