Great review. I have three of these - one is black, one is the Tokyo and last the platinum one. The Sailor nibs are amazing. At least one of them is always inked.

My Cross Peerless 125 is Titanium with a fine 18k Sailor made nib. It is always inked and in action. Just a stellar pen. Cross is one pen manufacturer that has always delivered for me. The cap is a bit large for the rest of the pen but that is the only complaint I can make for this terrific pen. Doug, your review of this pen was a pleasant surprise. Just a quick add, my Stainless Lamy 2000 was about the same price as the Cross Peerless 125 and the Cross is definitely the superior pen. Enjoy the rest of your use of this pen and get well soon!

Great pen with an amazing nib. One of the best collaborative projects between Sailor and any other pen company. Much cheaper than the Montegrappa Ammiraglio 1939 but maintained great quality

I hope you’re doing better, and thank you for the video. The Cross Peerless 125 is one of my favorite fountain pens. Before they stopped making them I managed to obtain a couple, along with extra nib sections (zoom, fine, extra fine, and medium). I will have to check with Joost to see what he has for sale. I am also a fan of the Townsend line, and really enjoy the way the 14 kt and 18 kt gold nibs perform. It’s a pity that Cross has not brought these back-I’ve tried to purchase one from their website but with no luck. Maybe Cross could make another deal Sailor or Bock for gold nibs for the Townsend as an accessory/option. Oh well.

I have the Peerless 125 black lacquer. I saw one a few years ago and I missed it so when I saw one on sale on eBay I snatched it and it is a very nice, heavy and in some ways unique pen. The nib is made by Sailor: the scroll on the nib resemble what you see on a Sailor, although it is 18K gold and Sailor standard only makes 21K or 14K gold (and of course steel). From what I could find, these nibs wee made specifically for Cross Peerless 125. Very nice review Doug (as usual!).

Great review Doug. This pen is a sleeper. Its comfortable and well made and the Sailor made nibs are exceptional. I actually have a Sailor branded nib in mine and moved the Cross nib to a 1911L body. Love these pens and another great review! Thanks!

Thank you Murray for adding onther pen to my GRAIL list. You must be so reluctant to hand them back Doug! I will check out the second hand market which is probably the only way I can afford it. I had never seriously looked at these before. I am glad you are over COVID.

I like the stealthy filler hole on Sailor feed(as it is Sailor nib and feed on the Peerless), I wonder why they're not advertised as such, my guess is that as with filler hole on feeds, they will need the ink to have saturated the feed enough to work better, otherwise most of the first fill is air, hence those tiny capacity converters like Pilot's con-40 or Sailor converter pulling in half of converter at best and get their bad reputation for that

I have the ballpoint version. It was given to me as a gift. It will stay with me forever. It is a beefy pen, the same as the fountain pen. I have never considered the fountain pen version, but after seeing your review, I will have to rethink this. Regardless of finish, it is a very attractive pen.

The minute I heard that nib I knew I would love it. Looked and sounded to me very much like a Sailor or even a Platinum President fine or ultra extra fine nib. I come to the comment section only to find out that this is in fact made by Sailor. Amazing! I have a Cross ATX that I really love. Nothing like this nib though.

Hey Doug, have you checked the new Wing Sung 632? It's a piston filler full ebonite pen with a 18k nib, I don't think many of us will be buying it at 260+ usd but I hope they eventually come out with a steel nib version, or a cheaper model with the same ebonite

I have this one with gold trim, and the Titanium version as well. Love them both! As Enzo mentioned, the nibs are made by Sailor. Dave Burrows (AKA, Penultimate Dave) turned me on to this pen last year. I was lucky enough to find an ebay seller who had both pens brand new, in a box so I snagged them both about a couple of weeks apart. The only quirk that both Dave and I experienced with the pen was when unscrewing the barrel i.e., it would twist the end of the converter potentially expelling ink. Did you happen to experience this when you inked it up?

It is so well balanced to start with, that the extra weight is distributed nicely and a small adjustment with your grip backwards makes it very comfortable.

Great review of this excellent pen with the really nice 21K Sailor nib. Like others, I enjoy writing with Platinum Plate Peerless 125 that I bought several other 125s, each with a different nib width. All great writers and a joy to write with. The Townsends are very nice pens, well built, and come in a lot of different versions. However, for me, they are too skinny, need the girth of the 125s to feel comfortable in my hand.

Oh, nice! Townsends. My most favourite pen. Mainly because of how they fit in my hand (balance, length, girth, etc). But I feel like I should warn you that their nibs need a bit of working...and that you may get those that were made in-house, Pelikan, or Pilot. Just a heads-up.

Let me tell you the story of my Cross Peerless Darth Vader pen. This limited edition pen is stunning, but it has a significant flaw: the rings inside the cap are made of plastic instead of being carved into the metal. These rings broke, and in October 2023, I returned the cap to Cross for repair via certified mail. I confirmed they had received it. After six months of waiting, I finally spoke with someone at Cross. I was informed that Cross no longer repairs their products or offers a warranty. Instead, they offered me a gift card refund to purchase more Cross pens, which also lack a warranty. Reluctantly, I agreed but requested the return of my original cap. It has now been over two months with no word from them. I am extremely disappointed with Cross and would not recommend their products to anyone. Despite the beauty of the Peerless pen-I own the Darth Vader edition and four others in gold, silver, and black-I will never purchase another Cross pen unless a new company takes over and commits to quality and customer service. Currently, their quality is substandard, and they do not support their customers post-sale. Buyer beware.
