Well Doug, for what is worth you bring joy to my life! I love your reviews and your comments: I think you have a way of finding what works and what doesn't work in the fountain pens galaxy. Your cutaways are brilliant and enjoyable and always on cue with what you are describing/discussing in your review. Thank you Mr Inquiring Minds. I have always enjoyed your style of reviews along with your light humor and clips is the icing on the cake. I to have in the past have grown my nails on my right hand for finger picking, that is guitar, and have had some of the same comments., I even used nail hardener for brighter sound and durability. I have also purchased by your reviews a $35 made in China pen that turned out a much better experience than my $800 holy crap grail that turned out to be a 🤬 holy fail. Thank for taking us along your journey.

I use the Sally Hansen "Hard as Nails" nail hardener when I'm playing a lot, because the steels shreds them so much. I use 0000 steel wool to buff them to a matte finish which makes it almost impossible to notice I'm wearing nail polish (god forbid!).

Interesting that you had such a different experience with Nahvalur than Doodlebud did for his Eclipse! Thanks for your videos Doug, your Metropolitan video is what really launched me into the fountain pen world. It was my first as well, bought it 9 years ago and didn't really enjoy the experience. I couldn't really nail down why. I took up journaling this past September and decided to do it with my Metro so I dug it out of my storage box. It was fine for a while but I remembered why I stopped writing in the first place. Your review that the grip section was too narrow and the step down so bad and sharp really illuminated my issues with the pen. Immediately got a Platinum Plaisir and enjoyed the experience much more. So here's what I got. I'm a newbie who has allowed my fascination with fountain pens to be throttled by experiences in grammar school. Suddenly I've awakened and am all in on the pursuit of this topic. As anyone knows who seriously tries to learn something new on the internet, solid sources of information are tough to find that actually "speak" to one. Doug is terrific. (That's you, Doug!) I'm trying to make up for lost decades on this topic and you are a great source. You are one of a precious few. I love your old movie cutaways. I love your sense of humor (slow minds are still trying to catch on). I love your oft tough reviews sometimes saving me money. Sometimes I love disagreeing with you which is easy because I know nothing. :>) Perhaps I love most of all your trek to your mailbox in the snow/cold to pick up your new pen. It ain't snowing here in Virginia. Yet. Keep on keepin' on ! One annoyance of particular you insist upon continuing. In addition to trying to learn something about pens I am trying to learn guitar & music theory. Let's say that the guitar plays me. Nylon. Classical. I am lividly envious of your talent. AND your nails ! Yet you infuriate me ! (it ain't my fault). Awhile ago I saw one of your reviews that had a link to your music. Can I find it? No! Is it my fault? Yes ! Quit screwing around and have a link to your music uniformly located so that I can find it. My fault I am shifting to you! I can see the finish line. Don't know how far away it is, but I can see it. I found the "negative comments" hilarious! I just dont believe how many people have time to lose writing those! After all, life is so short! Well, it bring me to my own complain about your channel, because I have one and I believe its legitimate: Since I discovered your channel, you make me spend so much money! I mean, I may as well bankrupt in 2025 because of you! Why is that? Well, because you are quite different than most pen reviews channel I knew before. First, yes, how a pen look is important but one of the thing you never put asside is pen practicality, and well, that always shall be the main focus: what's the point of owning a pen you can't use or have flaws that make it unpractical. So that's why I like your work, reviews, advices so much: at the end of the day, you always focus on the practical side of the pen. What I also appreciate about your channel is that some very nice pens have minors flaws that separate them from greatness and when it happend, not only you point it out but most of the time, you bring easy "DIY" solution to those problems, and honestly, there is not a lot of people who take take to do that in their channels. Thank for day, its great to have someone who share easy DIY tricks to improve our writing experience... So thank you for everything, fellow Canadian! But I still think that because of you, I'll brankrupt in 2025!!!!!

Hey Doug, such an awesome & funny video to end the year on!! Honestly, I skip through the intro/music so I can get to the 'meat' of the video. And I make better use of my time instead of concerning myself with what hat you're wearing or how long your nails are. The cut scenes - so aprapos. The ending covering the detractors was masterful. It certainly highlighted the inadequacies, intelligence and a lack of humor especially the satirical elements. As you've said, you do these videos for you, and there's no reason to change unless you want the change. I think there are more people who like your videos than not, so you have to be doing things right, and I say keep it up!!

Doug I have been a longtime watcher of Inkquiring Minds (love the name) and I want to say I like everything about your KZbin videos. They give me great enjoyment every week as I settle in with a coffee and watch the latest. I really appreciate your humor and honest and fair assessment of pens. I hope this comments dilutes some of the stupid ones you receive. I am a 50 year fountain pen user and while your channel has fueled my obsession I still love it. My first step to recovery is not buying any more Chinese pens. I have 4 Pelikans, MB 146 and 140, Parker Duofold, 3 Leonardo’s and 3 Esterbrook (maybe a review of the Back to the Land with Journaler nib by Gina Salorino?) so don’t really need any more. I have been married for 40 years, recently my wife has suffered some set backs which limit her mobility, she is part time on a wheelchair, part time with a cane, full time in pain. I now spend lots of time at home with her, I have a very active brain I have to do something productive, I decided to take up fountain pens to recover the penmanship I once had, which wasn't too bad but has deteriorated. Regarding A-L-I and some of their vendors I'll send you an email about my experiences and conclusions, if you don't mind. Your list is based on your personal tastes and experiences, of course. I was lucky with my V60 and the P138, all other pens I didn't purchase or even saw offers (Lucky me). I wish you continued success with your channel and many more interesting videos in 2025.

One of my best friends said she actually works with several guitar players and they get acrylic on them. Bc it’s cheaper than replacing picks all the time. Whew! Glad I dodged (almost) all from this list. I did purchase a V60 and liking it so far -- but I've not yet tried to clean/service it! Some people are only happy when they cause suffering to others. I suspect those who make these comments are probably miserable for some reason, and want to make others feel the same. I'm not very active in the "pen community" these days (posting and commenting are getting rarer), but I just wanted to let you know that I contribute to appreciate what you do. I've stopped watching most pen reviews because I'm at a point where I know what I like and don't need most reviews. But I continue to watch yours because they help me make better buying decisions with Chinese pens (the one area I still experiment in). For example, I was ready to buy a couple V60s, but your experience helped me decide against it, so thanks for that! I also find your cutaways funny. I don't always get every reference, but every video has at least one that makes me LOL... Like Cary Grant's "Get out" in this video (I freaking love that movie). Your videos are fun, I'm envious of your guitar playing, and your reviews have helped me through the years. Keep your head up and keep the videos coming! I appreciate you.

Hi Doug Thankyou for your videos. I have been a fan for a few years now. As a fellow guitarist I love your guitar cameos. I took it up late in life and love finger style but have found it very challenging. Forget the trolls as there are plenty of people who love what you do. It has led me to a number of great pens to try. I always get a laugh from the cut always. So don’t change for the trolls. Kindest regards Paul

I've also ordered ink from that shitty cr stationery store. It took 86 days to get that ink delivered, while orders from normal sellers are usually delivered in 10-15 days. That seller is the worst I've encountered on Ali, and I've bought a lot of things from a lot of sellers there.

Found your channel this year but quickly picked up on the why of the nails. To those who felt compelled to comment on that issue: Tell me you’re a moron without an ounce of discernment without telling me. My wife and I like: Doug's guitar-playing, and his nails, by extension (get it?). We like his hats. We like his cut-aways, they're funny. We like his format very much, and have made wise purchases by him. We love the way he respects all peoples, celebrating their industry, design, and innovation in the FP world. I think Doug has the rare ability to walk with kings and not lose the common touch, to quote Kipling's "If," a poem none of his detractors have read, I'm sure. No guitar music intro This has got to be bad. I wrote this before the review and did not realise that Doug's finger picks were any kind of an issue. Just keep those nails away from those people Doug. With such thin skins you would not want to risk accidentally scratching them as you would draw blood.
