I was having problems following it because my mind was preoccupied, definitely watching a second time, don't think I seen you do this type of line and then work out which side landed where and, something like Loomis for heads, I mean I seen you do lines in a million ways, but is there a end to yours? Really, what does Marshall have to say about that? 😆 much love and thanks for everything all of you do.

@@ProkoTV I come from a dance background and the medical field. you'd think that knowing the human body proportions help but in my case it doesn't. those things don't teach you design, they teach you realism. I think learning art is kind of against the grain in that way. How do you shut down all the noise and focus on learning the new skill that's right in front of you? Haha!!

I've been figure drawing for roughly 5 years but its always good to go back to the basics to avoid getting caught up in anatomical details, resulting in a stiff drawing. When you talked about choosing the "longer" side of the neck I was like "this guy is a great teacher. that establishes asymmetry for dynamism and also blocks in the sternocleidomastoid muscle." Keep up the great work, Proko.

I’ve been so frustrated with my figure/gesture drawings lately. This is inspiring me to pull out my newsprint pad and get back to the basics! Your channel is a lifesaver for those of us who can’t afford art school.

You have taught me so much in the few months I’ve been watching your videos you also introduced me to Jeff Watts. I’ve become twice as good at sketching in the last five or six months than in the 30 years I spent drawing with no understanding of what I was doing. Watching you guys videos is 100% the cause. I wish I had the money for your online classes but it’s not in the cards for me at this point in time. But I just want to say you have changed my life with your videos and I appreciate it so much. Thank you 🙏🏾

I may do anime style but your videos helped me alot especially anatomy. The bean method made me improve exponentially. Someone told me I have a "semi realistic " style and I took that as a compliment.

Occasionally I see the random discouraging word from viewers and wonder if they, like me are in the Trades and just having a bad day. I am a 30-year veteran Production Artist- studios Include SEGA, SONY, Disney, Nickelodeon, Apple, Discovery Kids etc. and I can say with confidence that every single one of us needs a 'refresher' like these videos. Not always been a fan of Proko, but the content I have seen is solid and not lazy. I would advise anyone trying to 'break in' to pay attention here- you don't always need to start from scratch and these lessons provide you with time-saving lessons discovered long ago and reinforced by pros in practice. Engineers, while having an education steeped in fundamental physical sciences, don't try to re-write the paws of physics. Instead they take the current science, methods and tech and use it for invention and production. Keep going!

Really good video. Often I see when talking about gesture people always mention "rhythm" but rarely do they actually explain what that is. I myself already draw this way but I've struggled to explain it to people who don't understand. When I think of "great art instructors" videos like this one are why you're at the top of the list.

This is a summary of what i took from this video in case anyone needs it^^ Rhythm How different body parts will connect - to find portions - eg. Hip actually curves into the neck in this pose Find the end point before creating the curve line (idk what that line is called line of action?) Make sure your curves are accurate - dont just draw them actually look at the subject
