So a lot of you are probably thinking that this drawing looks way less "cursed" than the man with a feminine pose. With this and the previous tutorial in mind, I don't think it's unreasonable to say that these are good examples of why women have an easier time presenting as masculine than vice versa. Women can puff out their chests, put on muscle, and angle their limbs convincingly. Men, however, can't as easily replicate the soft and slim proportions of a woman. It's the anatomical equivalent to "You can always put more on, but you can only take so much off." This is all to say that if you're looking to play around with how your character designs read, you should know which battles are gonna be downhill, and which are gonna be uphill.

also, Judith Butler mentioned about how masculine behaviour is a universal default, whereas femininity is a deviation from the norm, so when we see females doing male poses, it still seems okay because it’s “default”, but a man doing a feminine pose is deviating from the norm

There is, of course, the other way to represent as masculine and it's mostly the opposite of the example. Best phrase that i believe would get you to understand best is "Officer stance". Where, like the name, the legs are close together and stable, chest is puffed forward, hands are straight, strong, and to the side, you shoulders inline with your hips (not twisted). Lastly, the head is straight, level, and eyes focused. Overall, a posture that's firm, stable, proud, and tempered. Like how a proper man should be. For the spine, simply stand with the wall closely behind you and the points on your body which you should feel the wall (excluding your calf and heel) is your lower buttocks, upper back, and back of yhe head.

While I'm barely an artist, this still looks very useful. A lot of my friends, who are artists, primarily draw women, or feminine-looking men, so this looks like a really nice way to get out of that comfort zone.

I've seen both this short and the other one for the feminine poses. It's always interesting to see how someone's physiology influences their posture, leading to the perception of masculinity and feminity. It got me thinking about poses for pre-pubescent children since young girls and boys usually haven't developed the characteristics that are perceived as masculine and feminine yet

I also want to point out that you can also use the broad hips to your advantage when the legs are together as well, since they help protrude the thigh, so what you can do is sort of tilt the hips and take the Torso along with but only a little bit tho, you don't want to exaggerate it, you could even make it more masculine by raising the arms up with the hands behind the head.

@thealmightyrat6 ай бұрын
@@starlight_studios_art'cause bone structure' how does yo ass know they didnt start hormones early and therefore have the bone structure corresponding to their gender
@SaishoVibes6 ай бұрын
@@starlight_studios_artnot really, there are a lot of times where the fat develops (hormone-based) impacts your look. For example, on cis women, body fat tends to form around the hips, while on cis men it is more of the gut/front of stomach. HRT can substantially move (over time) the fat locations, giving trans women more of a cis woman silhouette, and the same goes for trans men getting a more cis man silhouette. It might not help the ribs, but at the same time that is hard to notice from a distance, especially with baggy clothes. Also, the placement of more traditionally female clothes exaggerates the hourglass by putting their wear-line at the waist and not the hips (like male/unisex clothing has) so it makes the torso smaller as well, making the wearer appear more feminine. I personally feel like I have more of an hourglass from skirts/high-waisted pants than I really see myself without. I hope this helps! Tl;dr: Clothing can impact how people are viewed in society more than bones, and the same goes for placement of fat with HRT.
