That looks so easy! Oh how I've struggled with 3D CAD... One finer point to note is that the dome is not with parallel sides. There's a 1/2" taper shown on the drawing. Doesn't really change your tutorial but that slight taper really helps the aesthetics of domes. Many thanks for showing the method.

Hey Anthony, you've hit this one on the head, this is exactly how I go about setting up these complex shapes in CAD. The only question I have is at 10:51. Is it possible to select the top face of the steam dome and have it shell the insides of the dome including the top, or were you doing that in a separate operation for a different reason?

Thank you Ferrous Equus! I shelled it from the bottom because that's where the more complicated geometry is, so I only had to do a simple extruded circle cut to remove the remaining wall from the top of the dome. If I had shelled it from the top face, I would have to remove the remaining wall at the bottom of the flange which would be a lot more work.
