12 Si os he dicho cosas terrenas y no creéis, ¿cómo creeréis si os digo las celestiales? Juan 3:10-18

Wow> I am impressed. Both locos are just beautifully build and their builders must be very proud of what they have accommplished. I can appreciate the work that has gone into these models since I have also build a set of 4 of the K-27s , suitable for the much smaller G Scale (45mm). Mine took 3,500 parts and 2 years to build. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6LEhGqvZZmFjqc. I guess the parts count on these magnificent engines in this video is very likely even higher. The video is just great and the live steam sound is convincing. Well done.

You know, all politics aside, this is why I love America. Here’s a guy with a degree in music that follows his heart and becomes successful at a totally unrelated endeavor. Believe it or not, that doesn’t happen everywhere.

Do I need a special certification from the AAR if I am just interested in machining the train wheels? I am not interested in fabricating, just machining them.

Great tutorial, well done and I followed along easy as. For those that use Fusion its a bit flakey and really isn't up to it, I tried it and after lots of editing of constraints it did work but Solidworks follows the logic.

Some of the best information on the subject comes from the late Don Ashton who was involved in the design of Tornadoes valve gear.

to better constrain the return crank make a sketch in the flywheel model, a line at the correct angle will do. Mate to that.
@EccentricEngineerYT

There is no advantage to defining the crank by the angle. There is no ideal angle for the eccentric crank. Only an ideal throw and length.

Can you use a globe valve or is a ball valve a better option to control the injector?
@Louis7.62X39
@Louis7.62X39 3 ай бұрын
The better option to control the wather inlet is to realise a good adjutment of the regulation gap between the front of the steam nozzle and the entry of the condensing cone, this will make a better regularity of the stream of wather around the steam jet. This is more reliable, but you can't obviously doing adjustments during it work, a good idea is to make a injector withs screw adjustable steam cone to vary the regulation gap like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2OZgHeqa9xlgck In other way the ball allows you to see the lever position quickly unlike the screw of the globe valve.

Very impressive. A very nice piece of work. Having dealt with actual Nathan engineering, this about as real and quality operation without having the “4000” parts that originals had. Yes you obviously could not include everything that the originals had, but what you have made is about as close to the safest method to add boiler water and with ease of operation once properly adjusted. It will be interesting to see after a few years of operation how tight if the steam and water valve seats remain tight and how long a set of nozzles will remain useable before wear or cutting takes. That comes with service problems from conditions. The original 4000s had their problems also. As you may have discovered, in 1948 Nathan had to make a major changes to the bodies due to liming up of passageways and relocation of the jet nozzle within the body. There were other changes made as service conditions were noted and improvements made to suit. Your study of the nozzles engineering to obtain the correct relationship of tapers, diameters and spacing based on steam pressures is very much admired. You are probably aware of how many variations Nathan had to come up with to satisfy different steam pressures, water capacities for the three different sizes of 4000s. Anyway nicely done! C. B. Ahrens

I had one of the 2-6-0 porters from OS. Looks like the super heater runs into the fire box on yours as it did on mine. Never had a problem other than a I had to be careful when firing by Hans. I wish I had bought one of the Kraus locos as well but I was getting where sitting down on a 1 inch flat was bothering my legs. Over corrected the situation by moving to 15" gauge.

This is an excellent presentation. Thanks for taking the time to share it with others. The symptoms you describe for diagnosis of issues are very succinct. All the best from Australia.
