Love this. You’re making CAD projects so much less intimidating for all us sketchy “napkin drawing” guys!! Thanks for documenting 👏🏻

Nice work... Been using Solid Works for the better part of 15yrs and I found a few good tips watching your techniques. You do a lot with relations as opposed to spending time drawing thing precisely from the start. Much faster! And it's something I've been finding myself doing more of lately as I've been doing a lot of design for 3D printing. Great video EE... I'll have to check out your progress on this when I have some time.

I have the boiler information plack off of the real 2414. It's made of bronze. And it's about 3 by 6 inches. My dad got it when the SP scraped the engine in 1954.

Another great resource are full scale steam engine restoration projects. For Rods specifically, SP 2479's restoration project has great photos on their website and their Facebook page.

The rod are castings?!!!! What are they cast out of? Steel or cast iron?
@EccentricEngineerYT2 жыл бұрын
Yup, the original LE rods were all cast bronze. In later used they switched to aluminum to save on cost. This engine has cast bronze rods. The new ones will be machined out of stainless

@@EccentricEngineerYT Incredible. I suppose the builder or designer must have liked using castings. It is very unusual, in Australia to find a live steamer with cast rods. Aluminium, I have seen. The club sweet pea engine has aluminium con and coupling rods. But these were machined from solid.

@@jimmynswgr Little engines did it to try to make it easier for the average home shop machinist to start building a locomotive. I think it's unfortunate.
