One of the things I love about seeing creators on KZbin and Patreon is seeing the process! It's so easy to look at Instagram/ websites/ merch/ etsy or whatever and see only finished products. Thanks for taking us one a video of the practice that goes in behind the scenes! I loved learning a little bit more about your technique and why you study real life rather than photo.. Also seeing your approach was helpful too. I freeze up in real life... I'm shy to draw in public like that, but also my mind can't quite figure out the lines and shapes for "turbo drawing" this gave me some helpful advice, and hopefully I can go put it into my own practice soon! Thanks Sha'an!

Lovvvve this. It felt very homey. I’m from upstate NY, what you saw in central park is a sliver of NY’s natural landscape. Once you go north of NYC those trees and animals are all you see. I live in California now and I miss the New York scenery. Watching this was relaxing and reminded me of when I used to sketch outside there too. Now I sketch in LA, which is fun too. Thanks for the video, I love seeing the process of other artists! Makes me feel not so weird. :)

So the trees you are drawing from the ‘rock’ in Central Park are Norway Spruce trees, not really indigenous but were brought over by the settlers and now are everywhere. They are beautiful and this year we all have a huge crop of sticky, sappy cones. The red squirrels love them! I live in Ontario Canada and we share much of the vegetation that NY has. NYC is nothing like anywhere else that I have experienced and those old beautiful apartments are amazing! Congratulations on your evolving career!
