I unsubscribed a week ago but now you are back. YEAH! I love your emphasis on line quality and the energy it imparts. I try to incorporate this into my life sketching sessions.
Hi, i hope you don't mind if I try to answer here in english! My advice is if you can't see the midline of the body, don't worry about trying to draw it, you don't HAVE to always include it. It's just something that is good to look out for, as a guideline
This drawing is fantastically challenging. I will try to draw it, of course. Your approach and finished product, if you will, is quite breathtaking. Regarding the horizontal and vertical axis... This is a mechanical technique used for measuring, yes? I only 'eye' subjects. I suppose this is a bad trait I've acquired. In any event, I'll keep your suggestions in mind. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. Invaluable!

Thank you for your comment, and to answer, No! absolutely not - learning to "eye" your subject is the best way to improve, and it's what you eventually want to be able to do. using guides and aids is just a way to practice that until you can sight intuitively. The horizontal and vertical axis I mention here is simply a guide, but I just imagine these lines when I'm sighting, I only drew them on the image to show what I mean. You can draw them on your reference image, or use them in your "mind's eye". Hope this answers your question! ❤

Love your work! You inspire me to keep working on my drawing skills 😊 Do you have any recommendations for books to help me along?

That's so wonderful to hear, thank you for this comment. I absolutely have a book recommendation - "The Natural Way to Draw" by Kimon Niccolaides. It's a great book about why we draw the figure, and about how to think about the practice of figure drawing from an artistic point of view. It teaches you how to see and think like an artist. I recommend reading it through, although it does include schedules and exercises - these schedules are meant to be taken in the context of a structured life drawing program, so sometimes they are not applicable to the every day reader. You can however read the book through as I suggest and learn so much from doing just that. Plus the exercises on Gesture drawing and contour drawing will change the way you draw if you haven't tried them before. Let me know if you have any questions! 😊
