Thank you so much, this video is so helpful! How would you do this if it wasn't a closed shape, just an outline? When I don't close the shape, making that final vertical line, the top corner of the left wing is not sharp, it's a weird stubby corner (or a round corner). They're all sharp corners only when I close the shape. How do you combine the lines if it's just strokes, without fill? I'm trying to do drawings and I'll really appreciate your answer.

What if you want just the stroke? How do you link the two endpoints in this method?? 6:15

I figured out your issue, what you forgot to do was change the quantity from 0 to 1 in the edit - transform pannel. So go back this time and you will find that both shapes emerge together.

Boy do I wish the new functions in Illustrator were simple enough for this to be even SOMEHWAT FATHOMABLE. Clicking and using different modifier keys literally NEVER yield the same results from one click to the next.
