This was exactly what I was trying to do, thank you!

My way of doing it: Make half of it -> Alt - Rightclick - Ctrl-J -> flip vertically/horizontally .. done c:

P.S: To actually join the two points in PS (because the result in the video still has free-floating points), select all the points, and in the combine shapes menu (the one with two squares overlapping) click the "Merge Shape Components" option. This will unify the shape as well as turn any intersecting two points into one point.

Mine wouldn't join to a single path using the first method. I went to point selection and moved them around separately until it connected but it still treated it like 2 paths after that and I can't change the alignment or such.

I was having that problem, too. Try "Merge shape Components". When you merge shapes, in the ribbon there will be a shape option that looks like two squares overlapping. (Path operations icon) Click on it. There will be options like "Bring shape forwarD" "Subtract shape" "Add shape" etc. The very last option will be "Merge shape components". That last one will change 2 paths into 1 path. (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZamnpKunLCLfJosi=gdi2Q1lspvuPpBb_ this is where I found it)

Surprising that PS doesn't have a symmetry tool for pen tool like it has for brush tool.

Hello, thanks for the tutorial. How can I make the outline of the heart but make it so that it has a transparent background (the center of the heart) so I can put a photo behind it in photoshop!!!??? Thank you once again!

Wouldn't it be easier to rasterize the object in an empty layer, select it and make a path out of the selection? Then you would just have to add a stroke and fill.

I noticed each time you make a path the stroke is created automatically. How can I get mine to do the same? At the moment, I have to right click and select 'Stroke path' each time. I'm using Photoshop CS4. Thanks, my friend.
@babylorvbeats7 жыл бұрын
He was not making a path. He is making a shape and only when you are making a shape then that happens. I know for sure you are making a path instead of a shape. So if you want it to create automatically, on the top left corner of the pen tool change it to shape instead of path.

I know what I meant. It doesn't matter now, my PS is doing exactly what it's supposed to, thanks!

Can someone tell me some workaround to aligning open paths in illustrator? Why this feature isn't present in vector grafic software?! Why you have to close path to align it perfectly to for example a rectangle with stroke alignment inside?
