16:42 one of the most valuable things I learned from examining the artists I like is that it doesn't matter how technically accurate a thing looks, just how convincing it looks If you look at the work of any professional comic artist you can see quite clearly that they rely on this principle a lot, especially for characters or objects that are far away or are not the main focus of a shot

As an older vocational rehabilitation student I am taking art classes in college and I learn more in any two of your videos than in an entire semester in college and I appreciate that very much. Nice channel I love seeing artist like yourself create. After trying to learn to draw for about 4 months I gave up, it was to frustrating. I wasn't getting any satisfaction out of my drawings just erasing and balling up paper I find it more relaxing watching videos of various artist sharing there artwork and expertise. I'm always blown away that there are so many talented people in the art world young and old.

While I'm going through an art course at the moment this brings me joy about my drawings. I listen to you talk while I'm sketching something I actually enjoy! Sometimes I’ll do this with really cheap sketch paper. I don’t know a lot of good drawing pens. Even then Microns are very sketchy once their ink dries out.

Awesome stuff like all the previous videos you've done. I have 3 questions. First is more of a request for the topic of what to draw: I'd love to see some kind of an animal/carnivorous plant hybrid. Secondly I'd like to know when you've designed a creature that gets a green light in a production, do you do the front and sideview "blueprints" for the 3D team yourself? And if you do, it would be awesome to see how you approach that on one of your creature designs. Thank you for sharing your knowledge here!

When I use ink I tend to use fountain pens which doing those light lines you are doing have alluded me because of the differences of a ballpoint and fountain pens. When I try doing light lines some times the fountain pen will skip on a line trajectory and I found using the moleskin sketch books prevent that. Do you think I should just go back to the standard ballpoint? I just love on long lines the flex nib fountain pens create such a sense of depth and feeling.

You can definitely stick with the fountain pen. Fountain pens are awesome. Maybe for an experiment, use both. Keep the ballpoint for very light lines and the fountain pen for the big stuff. You might get an excellent result.

I noticed that you put a lot of emphasis on not erasing and personally I don't really agree with that approach as it might be a bit intimidating for new artists and for me personally I don't see a problem with erasing unless you always erase.
