Hi, an Icelander here 🙌🙌 but the thing is that in the old days they used to be mischievous, adn all this scraping and licking was was concidered bad, because people didnt have alot of food, and would also eat the crusts hat were left in the pot or the pan. The Bowl licker stole the food for the cats and dogs, in their bowls. But they have turned the page now, and instead of being mean the kids leave shoes in the window and the Yule Lads leave small presents in them.

(Sorry for long comment) As an Icelander This is one of the best Drawfee episodes ever. Your info pritty on point not perfect but I'm not going to correct everything here. But have in mind that the yule lads are from the old days so they are realy old, and Meathook got the meat because the chimney was over the kitchen. Fun fact, if you didn't know. Children leave one shoe on their windowsill and the Yule lads put something in the shoe the 13 nights leading to Christmas. Gríla (great pronunciation btw) their mother is said to eat bad children. The Christmas cat is Gríla's cat and it also eats children but only if they don't get clothes before or on christmas. If a childe has been kind of bad the Yule lad, that night, puts a potato in it's shoe, instead of the coal.

Icelander here! So, since you asked, you're pretty much on the mark regarding the Jólasveinar (Yule Lads). The story of the Lads is pretty old and that's why the context of some of their names can be a bit obscure. Stekkjastúfur (Sheepcote Clod) is usually depicted as hiding in the sheepcotes (sheep-pens) and irritating and harassing the sheep, especially during the night, thus making sleep difficult for the people sleeping. Ketkrókur (Meat-hook) was pretty much spot on. He is depicted as hiding on the rooftops and snatching the meat that is being cured through the chimney. This meat was and is usually eaten during Christmas here in Iceland, so he was basically stealing their christmas dinner. Stúfur (Stubby) is sometimes seen as a bit more mischievous than the rest since he hid in peoples houses and ran away with their pans so that he could eat the burnt pieces off them. This is different from what Pottasleikir (Pot-licker) does which is stealing pots (that still contained some food) from children. Some fun facts as well: Grýla (who we saw in the other video) has a husband called Leppalúði who does nothing but lazily sit in their cave and wait for Grýla to bring him food. By some accounts, the Yule Lads number in the 200s or even higher. Most of these are regional varieties of the same Lad or obscure Lads that haven't made their national debut yet. “Fine, ill do it myself” Once upon a long long time ago, Gryla was dreaded by the children on Christmas. Despite this, she could not ruin Christmas by herself. She had 13 children with Leppaluoi. They were Stekkjartuar the Sheep Cote Clod, Giljagaur the Gully Gawk, Stufur the Pan Scraper, Pvorusleikir the Spoon Licker, Pottaskefill the Pot Scraper, Askasleikir, the Bowl Licker, Huroaskellir the Door Slammer, Bjúgnakrækir the Sausage Swiper, Gluggagægir, the Window Peeper, Gáttaþefur the Doorway Sniffer, Ketkrókur the Meat Hook, and Kertasníkir the Candle Stealer. Leppaluoi did not understand the sudden interest in children as he was “not that evil.” It was the night before Christmas. Gryla began planning to ruin Christmas for all the bad children. “REEK MY MONSTERS,*REEEK!*” They headed out, with mischievous smiles on their faces. They trashed the homes of the nasty children. Stealing their food destroying dishes and making a mess. The nasty children were taken to Gryla for her to boil. “We did it!” Exclaimed Stekkjarstaur. The lads cheered, all but one. Stúfur felt guilty inside. He began to feel remorse about what he’s done. “What’s the matter, STUBBY!” Bjúgnakrækir said sarcastically as Stúfur was abnormally short. Stúfur’s blood began to boil. He did not like that name yet he decided to embrace it. The next year on Christmas he took up a new mantle. He was no longer the Pan Scraper, he is now Stubby and he will save Christmas. Gryla rounded up the lads to ruin Christmas once more, but Stúfur was a step ahead. He went and lad proofed every house. He hid the meat, he cleaned the pots and pans, and the closed the curtains. His brothers arrived and were baffled. Gluggagægir, the window peeper noticed something. A short man cleaning. It’s his brother Stúfur! He forgot to close the curtains!! “Mammas gonna be mad!” Gluggagægir whispers. He goes to tattle on his brother, and as expected Gryla is not happy. “Heerree kitty kitty!” Jólakötturinn, the monsterous cat emerges from her dark hole. “*BRING ME STÚFUR*” Jólakötturinn takes off. While Stubby cleans the last spoon in the house, he hears something _prrrrrrrrr_ ... CRASH! Stúfur leaps backwards, then he sees two glowing yellow eyes, staring directly at him. The cat leaps forward and chomps, Stubby dodges. He rushes into the living room and ignites the fireplace. He stands in front of the fire, the angry, hungry cat charges. Stubby moves and pushes him into the fire. He finishes the job and he leaves presents for the children.Stubby saved Christmas!! Gryla was FURIOUS! She attacks from the sky. Stubby needs to escape in order to be free of Gryla. She grabs him with her great hand. He takes a hot pan and burns it. She flinches and throws him all the way to Denmark where Stubby will start his new life. The end.

I’m icelandic and here’s some info on the Yule lads Kids put their shoes in their windowsill to get presents from the Yule lads. If you have misbehaved you will get a potato or a mandarin orange. Some kids also give items to specific Yule lads, like yogurt candles and more. Grýla has a husband named Leppalúði. Wow. Not one bit of me expected this. My mother’s side is entirely Icelandic, and as a result my house has always followed various Icelandic traditions and known various bits of folklore. This, of course, is one of the most prominent ones, and my baby niece is even being taught about it now with a boot of her own in the windowsill. I was caught incredibly off-guard by this, but I love to see this. Good stuff!

Mine's similar, but just with general music. I have an older MP3 player, where I just have to manually put songs on. This, combined with both mostly choosing songs for the beat (For running/jogging), and a overwhelming laziness means I have so many songs I don't listen too anymore, but are just ridiculous. For an example, Mr. Wonderful Nightcore. Perfect example. Good fast jogging beat, but *the song though*
