I know trying a lot of different things are a great way to get to experience and explore things and find our interests that could lead us into what Our passion might become.. I have a hard time wondering if my not sticking to at least one thing is not the best foundation and what could I do as an ongoing part of art that might help the most to always work on that will benefit in whatever else I could end up doing

Breaking down concepts into simple chunk sizes is not nearly as easy as people think, even when you're quite knowledgeable in a given field. You do this on a prolific scale, and give so so much value away for free. Much respect and thanks!

One thing that can help with indoors painting is to use a 'daylight lamp' (or 'daylight bulb'). They are used primarily by photographers, but also work extremely well for painting with (unchanging) daylight indoors, as it were. They are not very expensive and can be used in normal fittings. It sometimes really differs enormously regarding the colors whether you mix and paint in artificial light or with (a) daylight (lamp).

Foreshortening is a huge problem for me. Also the balance of a shape. Drawing thru-what a helpful idea. I have a hard time with taking a large visual and shrinking it to a small paper and getting all the items in the picture and the correct sizes. I think your example a marking places on the paper will help me with that. Now it will be fun to try all of these great tips. Thanks Michele.

These are great tips! I struggle with perspective - not so much for any one object, but sometimes the objects don’t seem to have the same perspective. One of them might be off a bit, which makes the whole piece “wrong.”
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber 2 жыл бұрын
Yes often with buildings there are multiple points of perspective. A good tip is to walk away for a while, when you look at it again you will often see which line is wrong straight away.

I love all this deviation from watercolour Michele, and watching helpful advice on drawing in general is right up my street. I remember, when I first joined your group, I was a bit lost as to where to start, and your advice was to start with a still life (drawing or painting - either), and I still haven't attempted one yet, so I must put that right. Also, I was wondering if you had any thoughts on doing a tutorial on pastels, as I think this would be extremely useful for a lot of people. I was having such a terrible time last night, and still am today, but you're genuine enthusiasm, and uplifting videos, makes a world of difference. Thank you just doesn't seem enough. Take care, and Xie Xie 🙏💕

So many great tips about still life. I did a fiasco drawing once for drawing class where none of the hints were enumerated. Good idea about taking a photo before moving the tray holding the still life, and the light remaining consistent for the shadows. They are so important …….especially if fabric is part of your still life.What fun ! NOT ! HaHaHa If you saw some of the “vases” that I made during ceramic classes, you may think that the wonky base is truly the way it came out…….extremely wonky. Love that frog ring .

LOL I love your work and teaching (that’s not why I’m laughing), but I have to say I also love how you make light of our language differences. So in fun…you say “maths” (plural) and we say “Math” (singular Group Title). Something else that is funny…we actually don’t do art without Math-which is just another part of our whole conceptual language. Don’t worry…we get what you mean. We can stay primitive (Circle, square, triangle, elliptical, etc) in it’s usage without getting out the calculator to do complex calculations or getting out accurate measuring and layout tools. But hey! I do enjoy a nice piece of “pie” while working with “pi” in my circular plotting….LOL

Hi George, not currently although I may make one in the future. I find them a bit problematic, not that they don't work but students tend to use them wrongly, or allow the screw to loosen meaning they are inaccurate.
