Excellent tutorial. Chairs and tables can be challenging and tedious. Breaking them down into shapes as you do makes them easier.

So called negative shapes has always been considered by all the great artist. Cezanne talks about it. Leonardo da Vinci also. Negative shapes can give a picture som extra strenght. Good lesson Teoh.

Did you purposefully use more red (for the orange mixture) under the chairs as a color reflection? Or was it just a whimsical artistic choice? Thanks so much for this Teoh I plan to become a patron!
@teohyc6 жыл бұрын
It's just an artistic choice :-)

Hello Teoh! I have bought a 12 color Rembrandt watercolor boxset with Cadmium Yellow , Cadmium Yellow D and Cadmium Red M, and also with Perm. madder , Permanent and Cobalt green. I have found difficulty to use them as i am a beginner. i have been watching your tutorials and knowing that those colors i just mentioned are not your favorite choices. Would you please be so kind to give some tips or demo of using Cadmium Color? ( sorry for my bad English...)
@teohyc6 жыл бұрын
Cadmium colours are opaque and when mixed with other colours will make the mixture opaque. Cadmium colours are best used on their own. One use is to cover other colours beneath because of its opacity. For example, when painting cars, you can use red at the last stage to add the rear lights. Or you can paint a traffic light stand with black, and add a Cadmium Yellow or Red to suggest the lights.

@@teohyc Thank you so much!!! I'm quite disappointed that both of my Rembrandt and Winsor & Newton Boxset are full of Cadmium colours... Is there any reason of this preference?
