Just wanted to say thank you brother. I just completed the top end overhaul on an 05 Sportsman 800 twin and this series of videos was invaluable. I probably wouldn't have even attempted the repair myself without folks like yourself sharing their knowledge on KZbin.

D-Ray I watched this series on a very cold Michigan day. It was very informative and your presentation was excellent. I worked for AC Spark Plug for over thirty years and we put together a lot of training videos. Your attention to detail and relaxed presentation keeps a persons attention. Outstanding.

Thanks ray for taking the time to doing all these videos. Very good and thorough. I used to work as a Honda mechanic and you did a great job explaining everything especially about leak testing your valves. A lot of people that diy look past that and and wonder why it runs like crap after a new tokens rebuild.

Watched all 5 videos. Thanks for taking the time to shoot this video. I'm pretty decent at working on cars and motorcycles, but you make everything seem so easy. I just purchased a rzr 800 that had the airtube pull away from the throttlebody and had been ran that way for quite a while apparently. Watching this series of video answered every single question I had. Awesome job my man! Thanks again.

Thanks so much for this series. I learned a whole bunch of stuff...what I needed to know to keep myself out of trouble. Such as, the valves are hard faced so the cannot be ground. and, the hardchrome bores mean I'll be buying a cylinder/piston set. and gaskets. You did a very logical teardown and great tips on the injector wiring marking. So many things that could go wrong if one doesnt pay attention to detail Thanks again

Again, great video series. I wanted to pick your brain a bit. Just bought an 08 rzr 800 with 2200 miles, grandpa driven mostly in NY/PA, very clean well kept machine, doesn't appear to have been abused or trail ridden much, putt putt around private acreage from what I can see. I noticed the oil level was a little above full, and I have a decent amount of oil pouring out of breather tube into air filter box after 10 min ride. When I pop my air box open, oil pours out onto ground, enough to soak a shop rag completely. Machine doesn't appear to be burning any oil, though she hates to start after burping oil when warm. Obviously I'm gonna start by changing the oil to proper level, gonna change spark plugs, figured I'd check compression while I'm at it. I also purchased a replacement CNC machined breather cap for valve cover as I've heard the plastic ones have been noted to be problematic. I've read on forums that the two cylinders pounding away at same stroke does create a lot of crankcase pressure, is this oil blow by pretty commonly seen? Let me know what you think, maybe there's another check I may be missing.. also, what's your opinion of the big bore vs stock bore when replacing the cylinder jugs and pistons? Is that a worth while upgrade to go big bore if my rings end up being shot and I take the motor rebuild plunge 😜?

Ray i watched all 5 of your vids i have the same model as you are working on in the vid and has had a bad oil consumption problem only i found that the vent hose for crank case ventilation had a split in the line im hoping it didnt get dirt exposure like that but im not being very optimistic at this point so i changed out the hose and cleaned up the air box and oil changed it and new air filter and spark plugs and will take it out for a run and see what happens .ive never been into a polaris motor before but looks pretty straight fwd im old school like you and share all the same techniques you do i started out back when i was a kid working on motorcycles and small engines i see the polaris has little differences of what i can see of bike engines great vid keep up the great work thanks for the good info Bill in Nevada

I've had a few dr650's in the past and they are pretty much bullet proof, if its blowing oil into the air box and the oil level is correct, you may have excessive blow by on the piston rings.

Hey Mr. DRay. I loved your video on rebuilding the 2008 Polaris Ranger RZR 800. Your videos we're very precise. I liked how you showed every little piece and part and how to do it. Not jump around like all the other clowns. After doing a top end rebuild on the motor. We took it for a test drive and it started puking oil out the breather tube on the valve cover. Not just a little a lot. Not sure if we have a problem or not. The plugs are dry and look good. What do you think is the problem? Any help would be great. Thanks. Jarid
