Well done review on this bike! I have been riding off and on for the past 50 years. I’ve raced Motocross,desert and the big 6 gps. I’m 5’3 and 155lbs. I had a 390 RRS for a couple years but I’m 65 and don’t have the strength anymore. I ordered the 200 RR and should receive it May 2021. I’m looking forward to a much lighter bike.

@@ozziejim8472 yes it finally arrived. I set the SAG and I went out for my break and ride. This bike feels so late compared to my 390. The power of the 200 two-stroke is very good. It has good bottom and power and is very controllable. I pretty much just rode tight singletrack hard pack. When I finally got on a fire road and opened it up I was very happy with the power. The rain mode works great for tight slow writing. I am definitely very happy that I got this 200. My last two stroke was a 2001 RM Suzuki. I will get used to riding a two-stroke real fast.

I'm a washed up 52 y/o intermediate trail rider. I'd been struggling on a 2015 FE350 for a few years hoping I'd get the feel for it. I did the Beta demo day in Marysville, CA and just loved the 200. I bought one a few weeks later and it really transformed my riding for the better. When I was younger I had a couple of KDX200's and loved those bikes. Now I want a trials bike too!

Great vid. I have a 2017 Xtrainer with the Boano forks and Fox rear shock, it is a great trail machine, still twitchy at high speeds though but I don't ride there anymore. I am 5'11 200 lbs and 50 years old and I love the low seat height and smaller frame, very confidence inspiring and a super linear power delivery, a little flat on the top end due to the pipe and a few other little things but otherwise great IMO. I also ride a 19' 390 RR race and 13' 350 RR race, quite familiar with the Beta,s love em.

Awesome take. I am a motocrosser since age 6, turned hill climber since age 55 due to the reliance on experience and no need for cardio as it's over in 10 seconds, just skill. I'm the current state champ for 125cc hill climb but plan on going to the 200cc class however, I'm interested in if you ever practice motocross tracks? I don't race anymore but love practicing and was wondering if the smaller rear wheel and different rear suspension linkage is an issue. I don't do woods often but the beta has an advantage of legal on roads so that might be the difference between that and a KTM 200cc not street legal. Admittedly, KTM has no rear linkage suspension. Any input is helpful. Thanks!

Great review! I'm looking at the 2022 200 RR or RE at the moment. I have a 2016 XC-W which I really like but I'm considering an upgrade. I'm skeptical of the suspension on these bikes which is why I'm leaning towards the RE as it has KYB forks which are a little more know/reputable. I do hear that they're pretty stiff though and I'm only 5.3" 142lbs. Decisions decisions. 🤔

Good video. I agree completely with your assessment based on my far more limited seat time with these Betas plus what I've owned in the past. I'm sticking with my middle ground '18 Husky TE250 for the long haul but I would definately be looking at purchasing the 200. There were rumors of that bike coming when I was shopping but I was just a bit too early. Good deal came up and couldn't pass up the TE. 200 was so fun and natural feeling (5'7" 165 lbs) at the demo which was mostly tighter single track. Could definately see it's potential though as you've demonstrated in your videos.

Great review! I have the 2023 Xtrainer and was looking into picking up either a 200 RR or 300 RR. I'm still not sure which one but leaning towards the 300RR. I don't have your skills but like to climb sandy long hills and ride some faster two-track. The Xtrainer suspension is a little harsh on the fast rocky two-track I ride. Plus it's a little twitchy at faster speeds. I feel like the 300 RR will have some extra top-end power my Xtrainer doesn't and it might be a little more fun on those. What do you think?
@DirtJunkie
@DirtJunkie Жыл бұрын
I agree the Xtrainer suspension can be unstable for fast riding. I find it more on the soft than the harsh side, so the 200 or 300 would both probably feel even harsher. Hard to beat a 250 or 300 for long sandy hills though!

Fantastic review. Best comparison between a 200/300 I've seen. I went from a KTM 200 to a GasGas 300 last year, and while I love the torque and smoothness of the 300 (agreed on your traction comment), I do notice that the bulk is making it less confidence inspiring in the gnarly stuff. Quick question - do you notice the difference in chassis size / seat height between the 300 and the 200? I know the 200 is supposed to be a bit smaller, but I've ridden both at a demo and they both felt about the same to me.
@DirtJunkie
@DirtJunkie 4 жыл бұрын
Compared to my 2018 300rr, I actually thought it was quite noticeably taller. After breaking it in and setting sag, I'd say it's about the same. The seat and body is a bit wider through the middle compared to 2019 and previous, which I think makes it seem taller even if the heights are the same on paper.

Thank you for the great video. With 200, wouldn't it be more difficult to hop the front wheel? I'm on KTM 150 and having hard time to lift the front without clutch. I wonder if clutch is almost always needed with small displacement, which could be one of the advantages of 300....

Do they make the 200 with race trim now? I haven't kept up this year. I got to ride my 300rr again recently when I was in Utah (sold it to my buddy out there), and I loved it. The 300 lets me be the lazy rider I am. But when I got back into extreme terrain on my 200, the bike just felt like an extension of my body compared to the 300, and I had so much control and precision on it. Again though, I would say the chassis redesign on the 2020 models has a lot to do with it. Anyway, I don't think there is a wrong choice. I've already decided if I change bikes again I'll probably go 250 next, just because I haven't owned a 250 as my primary enduro bike yet.

I have a Honda 250f 4T but have been longing for a light 2T. I’m still a beginner but want to grow into a bike. 5 10’’ 180lbs. Would you suggest the beta 200rr, or the ktm 150 xc-w? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

@DirtJunkie 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried the 150 so I'm going to be biased. It sounds like a great bike and I'd love to try it, but from what I hear it seems to prefer living in the higher revs similar to a 125, so you'd probably find the 200 to be easier to lug and get the front end up with more control. Control being the key word since you can lift the front on anything, but the 150 will probably feel more jerky and unpredictable than the 200. The 200 definitely won't be too much power if you're used to the 250f, the 250f will probably pull harder at higher revs vs the 200.

I am in middle of choosing a new bike. I have been riding a KTM Freeride 350 for a long time and my riding is now killing the bike - suspension and breaks are not built for faster and aggressive riding. And I ended up looking at Beta 200 RR - but most ppl I talk to recommend getting the "racing" model due to KYB front forks. But are the Sachs forks still so behind? I see there are tons of customization options available and even possible to get Öhlins cartridge kit.
@DirtJunkie
@DirtJunkie 3 жыл бұрын
For me, honestly the suspension on my 200 is the best suspension I've experienced for my weight and usual riding, hands down. A bit too hard and harsh at first but broke in nicely. I did not like the stock suspension on my 2018 300rr, even after sending it off for a revalve it never seemed dialed. I think the new chassis of the 2020 models has a lot to do with the improved feel though and maybe could be even better with KYB? Not sure, I've only experienced KYB suspension for one ride on a yz250x but it wasnt adjusted for me so it left a lot to be desired. A freeride for me feels like almost trials bike suspension so if that's what you're used to it will be quite a shock whether you go Sachs or KYB

At 6'3" I think you're good as far as seat height on any bike. Also at 230 I suspect most modern enduro bikes would feel very light and flickable compared to the xr. Have you tried any of the current Betas/KTMs/Shercos? Itd be nice if you had an opportunity to try a 200, but I suspect you'll find it very weak on low end compared to the xr, may still be fine but without trying one first a 250 or 300 would probably be the safer choice.

I did not keep it on my 300 or my 200. On my 300 a line popped off twice in the airbox (second time it was zip tied tight, none of the lines come secured from the factory). The lines are routed and secured better on 2020 models. But I still don't think it's worth it when mixing gas is so easy, I never stop at a pump for gas and if I expected to I could just carry a small bottle of oil. Some people never have problems but issues do seem common at 100+ hours, whether electrical or pump failure.

That's tricky because there are some riders that can perform miracles on a smaller trials bike like a 125, but even the 200 gasgas I rode for a weekend felt a bit underpowered. It was probably more so me being used to my 250 and the 200 would have done that job just fine if I didn't ride it like the 250. That being said, a smaller but modern capable bike could help you progress more quickly (for example i think i ride better on my 200 enduro than the 300 but the 300 is just excessive for most riders in my opinion). Depending on your current riding background, the 125 might be great but might leave you wanting more. I don't think the 200 would be too much or overwhelming in any way.

Why does everyone never look at the 250s??!! Its all I have owned for the past 5-6 years and wouldn't look at a 200 or 300

Since I've now owned a 300 and a 200 and never a modern 250, that will be my next bike. I think itll be great to have tried all 3.

@@DirtJunkie I’ve owned a yz250, 2019 beta 250rr and I’m picking up my 2021 250 racing tomorrow! My friends with ktm and beta 200s love them but always say they want a bigger bike. Then all 300s have downsized or want to lol. I do think the 250 is the perfect race bike and that’s what I do
