I have 2 planks I need to replace due to slight water damage on my not even a month old floor! Gutted to say the least. I’ve watched a ton of repair videos now on how to do this without ripping up all the from the wall. Yours is easy to understand for a moderate DIYer like me. I’ve got a multi tool to make the cut. Wish me luck!

This is one of the most fascinating and instructive video's I've ever seen. I need to do similar repairs and was always wondering how it could be done. The manipulation he does to the planks looks difficult for a noob like me, but at least I can see how he's going about it. The trimming and use of Glue is very innovative.

Thanks for showing me how to replace the broken boards in my home. I watched quite a few other videos on this and you gave some very helpful tips that other people didn't share especially the drilling of the corners. I love any tips that save me from unnecessary issues 😅. My boards are all cracked basically in a straight line where the renovation company removed the tile from one side and attempted to make it even. Any ideas on how I can avoid spending thousands of dollars to rip it out and try again?
@FloorsbySouthernboys
@FloorsbySouthernboys 5 ай бұрын
You can take out about 5 feet of your vinyl plank, flooring and feather or float the floor down from the top of the tile down to the bear floor using a floor patch make a very gradual ramp with floor patch and it will not affect your newly installed vinyl plank it will need to be about 5 feet wide therefore, it will slope slowly enough to not damage or be noticeable

Alright, I used your video and replaced 4 vinyl planks that had a deep scratch from when my son moved a steel based chair. It looks amazing. Now I do have a question just today I had to tighten up gaps in the kitchen approx. 4 foot square area looked like a jig saw puzzle crooked from movement. The floor is 8 years old not happy with vinyl. However, by the time I was able to get the area back to new looking the last row I had to replace 2 planks since no matter what I did they would not move. At the end of it all I have a gap along the length of the planks approx 1/8 inch. What can I use to fill this gap the planks are a dark oak/brown Torlay color - Avalon and of course no longer able to purchase. Lucky I had 3 boxes left over. Can you recommend a gap filler - watched a lot on KZbin but not great results by most. Regards and Thank you fro the vid again.

We had Pergo LWP Duracraft flooring installed about 2yr ago over a cement slab. The installer did not level the cement slab in one section and the floor is bowing and beginning to split. I need to replace 2 or 3 planks. The planks are about 5 or 6 planks from the wall. Can I carefully pull up the planks from the wall until I reach the ones I wish to pull up, reinstall and replace? Or, should I cut them out the way you did? Also, how can I go about leveling a very small section of concrete? With your method how do you know when to cut the edges? Thanks

@FloorsbySouthernboys
@FloorsbySouthernboys 10 ай бұрын
If it is not far from the edge like you say, and also, you need to do some floor leveling, I probably would work from the wall over to the damaged area. That will give you plenty of room to do what kind of leveling you need and then place your planks back in

Unfortunately after looking at this more closely, pulling up planks requires I pull up 5 or 6 rows that extend 10 or 12 feet, not too bad. The problem is, the first row has a section that extends under a baseboard hydronic heater enclosure. I would need to remove the heater top-back panel in order to lift the planks in the first row. Even doing this will not guarantee I will be able to lift the first row because noiseless element (tin) may be in the way. I think I’m back to focusing on removing three planks similar to how you did in this video. I will look at this more closely tomorrow.

You don’t need to glue booth ends and you actually shouldn’t be gluing the backside of that one end. The last plank you put in just tap one side of the row done a little. You then only have to cut the small side of the plank off. You then just put glue on the big side of the plank on the floor then put your new repair board in. You finish by tapping the row back until it’s reaches the end of your new board..

I've been doing flooring warranty/repairs for MANY years. LVP... Laminate...EVP..... GARBAGE!!!!. When it fails,& it Will.....the manufacturer will ALWAYS, ALWAYS blame the installer even though it's CRAPPY product!!!!!

I will agree there are lots of bad products out there but if people will follow the manufacturers recommendations and guidelines on how to properly install these products they will last for a long time without failure. 99% of the people do not do that so therefore, you get the manufacturers blaming the Installer because it is their fault.

I agree most/some do not follow manufacturer on the installation... however, most of the time the manufacturer has requirements that are either dang near impossible (⅛" flatness elevation in 10 feet or something - just as example) or are contradictory in care instructions (one thing says steam mop is okay so long as not "held in place over 5 minutes" but elsewhere steam mops are NOT allowed).... so even IF installed correctly by professionals and all care and concerns followed (slab flat, thoroughly swept & vacuumed, leveled where needed, 6 mil plastic laid down, proper gap left around perimeter for expansion & contraction, etc) the product can/will STILL FAIL. Then, when an inspector comes out, they will find any reason to NOT blame the sub-par product but instead put the blame on the installer. A lot of the newer LVP products are garbage but the manufacturer wants to always shift blame to anyone and everyone else so as to not hurt their bottom line (the dollar).

Also, if customer causes damage by improperly caring for the LVP floor (using Fabuloso or steam mop, for example) and inspector comes out, they can (and have) blamed installer for it instead of admitting their product did not withstand regular use and care by the customer as it should've. Inspectors always side with the company and blame the installer to negate responsibility for a crap product. I see SO many times people ask "how should I take care of or clean this floor?" and wanna use any and every product out there like it's a standard tile or sheet vinyl, when they (the mfg) SHOULD include specific care instructions on the product boxes/packaging so as to NOT cause confusion.

Thank you so much!! I’ve watched a number of your videos!! Quick question, does this destroy the waterproof feature, since the locking creates the seal? Thank you!!!😊

And when your plank replacements fail, you have super glue on every surrounding board. Enjoy that repair I'm telling you this s*** is crappier than Legos. Unbuilding it is always the best way like repairs have come up over the past few years and they're stupid because you're breaking the warranty by gluing it all together. I know I'm more into guy and I have to do it too. Spend the money and put real for him in your house. Hardwood tile or sheet vinyl or carpet

This does not void the warranty. It is actually how the manufacturer teaches you to repair a bad plank. And if they installation is done, correct vinyl plank will last more years and years and years. The problem with vinyl plank is every handyman in the country think they can do it because they know how to click it together. There is a lot more to a professional long lasting installation than just clicking it together.
