The ships look great! Any way you think we'd be able to get a closer look at each of the ships?

Ah. Your battle reports are truly entertaining no matter how old. You should work for Warhammer + though I think the taunts and profanity, which is kinda like the spicing on a great meal, might make it hard. :)

@@EsotericOrderGamers Have you revisited Dreadfleet since this battle report, and have your opinion in that case differed on how good the game is? (with some slight houseruling) I have the opportunity to get hold of an unpainted copy and the miniatures are tempting to paint, but it would be sad if the game is bad.

@@lindgrenjonas I don't think I can tell you any more about it than the long battle report filmed above Jonas! I haven't played it again since, but I have a lot of games and am constantly covering new ones. You'll have to make your own mind up on that one! It's a very random, silly game as you can see, so if you're looking for a balanced, deep, naval wargaming experience forget it. It's fun if you're in the right mindset but I certainly wouldn't be getting it out every week. :)

@@EsotericOrderGamers Yeah, I follow the battle reports and appreciate the diversity even though I'd vote for more epic, space hulk, war of the ring with Will if I could. Anyway, thanks for the feedback and keep up the good work!

Damn... I'd like to buy this game but the cost, the HUUUUGE board and space needed to play it and the time and money needed to be spent in order to assemble and paint its miniatures out in a decent way are making me reconsider my former idea !!! Damn... Why GW does such cool but too much "complicated" games (not in gameplay maybe since dice rolling isn't so much "complicated"; I mean in many dozens of other aspects and similar)?!?
@EsotericOrderGamers8 жыл бұрын
To be honest with you, I'm not sure the game itself is worth all the time involved in putting it together, unless you enjoy putting together and painting the minis for its own sake. But it's so complicated to construct and paint because GW's focus has always been on the miniature hobby more than the games themselves. There are lots of great games out there that are more satisfying to play and don't require all the effort - but if you want the visual result of a game like Dreadfleet, yes, it does take a lot of time and effort.

The Esoteric Order of Gamers So, my friend, taking into account that I never painted a miniature neither do I assembled and painted games workshop's miniatures (that seem to be made just for expert and proficinet "builders and painters") what do you suggest me to do ?!? To buy and play another game ? I wanted to buy it because I can find it at the price of 75 / 85 euros (I don't know the value in Dollars of such amount of euros at the moment I write and I live in Italy... Then prices are sometimes higher than abroad - even other european countries, due to taxes and such) and I also love EXTREMELY the setting and lore in which the game itself is "settled"... Piracy + Fantasy = EXTREEEEEMLY COOOL !!! (but it is a matter of tastes). You also reported that the GW itself retired and destroied many copies of the game so - if it is not a fake new or a joke - it can be a sort of "rarity" that collectors can search for and valuate a lot in case of a "reselling" of the game itself (I could do buy and then resell the game at an higher price, as a sort of "investment"... LOL LOL LOL). What can you say me regarding such news you gave ?!? Is it a joke or is it true ?!? I also do compare this game made for collectors with another game that I would like to buy: its name is "Nuklear Winter" (along with its expansion), but on the net I read that the manual of this game is not correctly worded or clear as the Dreadfleet manual is and that also certain scenarios are almost unbeatable and also certain assets or units you can field in that game should be revised since they are overpowered such as minefields or sandbags. Have you done a review on Nuklear Winter in the past ? unfortunately at this moment I do not remind the name of that game's producer, but you can find it on boardgamegeek.com the most consulted site for boardgames collectors and players like we all are... As I saw. Bye... And thanks for any reply or advice you would like to give - bye...

The Esoteric Order of Gamers Another thing that I forgot to mention: the unique things that I really dislike of Dreadfleet is the fact that you must to mount and paint EACH piece of the game itself; the fact that it costs a lot in terms of effort to paint and buy it and the fact that the islands depicted by certain pieces are always "giant skulls and bones" (so, the result is boring and frustrating at the same time: most of the island pieces do resemble each other resulting in not being diffrent or various in style and "appeal", I mean... Why did they create a dozen of island pieces with the same "bone and skull thematics" ?!? Even if they ever put TOO many skulls and bones in their products (I refer to Warhammer 40k, for example) and that type of style is their "trademark", they could have opted for a more fun and wise choice of diffrent kind of islands... Maybe they could have put a different set of "islands pieces", with rocky islands, sandy islands, volcanoes, one or two (maximum) "skulled islands" and so on... Instead they opted for a more cheapy - but not so funny to see - set of mostly similar islands made of big skulls and bones... DAMN ILLUMINATI SEPT !!! THE GW LEADERS AND CEOs ARE MEMBERS OF THE "SKULL & BONES" SEPT, MAYBE... AH AH AH ... And this would explain why they put so many skulls and bones on their products and the islands of Dreadfleet !!! Ah ah ah Just joking ...

The Esoteric Order of Gamers If you have done a serie of videos on how to paint and asselmble that game or on the boardgame called "Nuklear Winter" can you link me those videos so I can watch them ?
@EsotericOrderGamers8 жыл бұрын
Calm yourself, you'll bust a gasket! :) I don't know anything about Nuklear Winter, sorry. I built and painted Dreadfleet before I started the EOG so I didn't make any videos or tutorials about the process. But it was a complex and time-consuming task and I definitely wouldn't recommend it as a newbie project. I don't know what the game is going for now, or if it will be considered a collector's item in the future. I believe GW destroyed old stock for financial reasons, probably to do with storage and warehousing, who knows? But it seems there's no shortage of copies out there. In any case, I never buy games as 'investments', I just buy them to enjoy them and play them, and very, very rarely sell one unless it's really bad!
