“Basically, because it doesn’t happen to me, then it’s a made up thing that cotton buds are bad for your ears”. Just stop it. Everyone has different ears. Different ear wax types. Mine is very dry and ear wax is easily pushed to the back through cotton bud usage. I don’t have that problem now because I use debrox, but I still also use cotton buds. But it’s not a made up thing. People need to more aware of their only way of cleaning their ears is cotton buds.

Qtips do work in the ears. IF YOU DO NOT PUSH THEM IN YOUR EAR TOO FAR! I have had multiple ear infections as a child and I have learned that you just need to clean the outside and SLIGHTLY Clean inside of the ear canal. I now have extreme trouble hearing because of 3 ear surgeries, and m ear canal is scarred and my ear drums have ruptured and have been slowly healing.

I agree Lesley. It doesn't look like cotton fibres. I wonder if the infection was caused by what he put in his ears or if he filled his ears with something to clear up the infection. Either way this clinic gets some nasty looking ear canals. Yuk 😅
@betsyropp5615 ай бұрын
The leathery stuff is old skin. Our ears naturally shed skin and it is supposed to migrate out. Using q-tips they have pushed in and packed it down. There were a few fibers at the beginning but the danger of q-tips isn't the cotton, it is compacting wax and skin.
@alexisreyes58433 ай бұрын
, some people naturally produce more earwax than others. This can be due to a variety of factors, including genetics, age, and even the shape of the ear canal. Earwax, or cerumen, serves an important function by trapping dust, debris, and microorganisms, preventing them from reaching the eardrum. However, excessive earwax production can sometimes lead to blockages, discomfort, or even hearing loss if it isn't managed properly. If someone produces a lot of earwax, it’s usually best to avoid using cotton swabs, which can push the wax further into the ear canal. Instead, they might consider using ear drops designed to soften the wax, or consult a healthcare professional for safe removal if it becomes bothersome. Regular ear hygiene and occasional check-ups can help manage excessive earwax production.

I've watched a lot of these kinds of videos, (my favorites are the Wax Whisperer, and Dr. Zhao's cholesteatoma videos,) but I've never seen anything like this. From what I've seen, that is not what impacted ear wax looks like--cotton swab or not. However, some of you mentioned seeing insects in the mess... Would that explain it? The green discoloration and the discharge would make a lot more sense coming from bugs than a q-tip.

@BeefJerkeyАй бұрын
Using them tends to push wax into the ear. I know that's what would happen if I used them.
@lauren9667Ай бұрын
The type of ear wax you have is genetic. You probably don’t create as much wax as people like the person in video. Or it may have a consistency that adheres to the Q-tip and can be removed. Some people create a lot of thick ear wax and it partially occludes the ear canal. Instead of being removed by the Q-tip, it’s just pushed far the down the canal. Another thing to note is that ear wax is only created by the outer third of the ear canal. It can naturally migrate to the middle third of the ear canal, but it should never be in the third near the drum. Repeated Q-tip use by these people will eventually push wax onto the ear drum, which kinda hinders good hearing. The problem for the person removing the wax is that the Q-tip has left a concave dent in the middle of the wax blockage. This makes it difficult to get a suction probe to grip the blockage. Also, the wax is stuck on the ear drum and practitioners are usually loathe to touch the canal because it hurts like the dickens. It’s also dangerous to use the scoops or picks you may have seen. So, while many people lead full and happy lives cleaning their ears with Q-tips, the audiology folks only see the nightmarish scene we saw in the canal today. 🙂
@zayahelen6842Ай бұрын
@@lauren9667never knew it could be genetic that’s really interesting, guess earwax is just like any other condition people have where some don’t experience issues at all and some it impacts their life everyday.
