Great video, thank you! ORI struts and either a Dana 44 or 60 swap is in my Jeep's future. Probably not until next fall but you're videos are very helpful.

The truck’s name in its previous life was Big Red but I’m sure you can come up with something more clever than that. 💕

I was sort of thinking “Rooster” since it’s red and flashy with an attitude. 🤣

Haha. I love it! How about The Big Red Beast? I’ve no doubt it’ll be a beast by the time you get done with it. 🔥

What size Ori did you go with, and how did you come up with the size length you needed?
@aireddown813 Жыл бұрын
I did a bunch of Pirate 4x4 reading on ORIs, and one general rule kept popping up; keep your ORIs at mid travel for ride height for best performance. So many people buy huge ORIs and run them at 2” of up travel, but that makes the ORI perform poorly. In many peoples’ experience, it’s better to have less flex and better shock performance on your average offroad rig. So I went shorter on the shorter side. I measured flex in some of my friends rigs and on my CJ, and it seemed like 6” of up and down travel would be an ideal average.

How much uptravel are you planning on running?
@aireddown8133 жыл бұрын
I’m planning on between 6” and 5” of shaft showing on the shocks. So my uptravel should be somewhere around 5.25 to 4.25 ish

I'm also DD owner. I have 1-tons for future swap and already bought a bunch of parts. I want to ask if you plan to use SYE kit in future? I know Durango is not a YJ but think this will reduce driveshaft angle and it will better anyway. Good luck!
@aireddown8133 жыл бұрын
Nice! Do you have a KZbin or Instagram I can see it at? I do plan on using a slip yoke eliminator when I find either a rubicon 4:1 transfer case or an atlas case. This is just to get it driving for the short term.

@@aireddown813 I'm from Russia. I don't have instagram. I can give my email and I can send to you photos and a description of changes. I've made axle tubes swap on front chevy dana 60 (now it's driver side drop), home made high steering arms, home made axle trusses, etc. 37'' tires =) It takes a lot of time and money to purchase all parts in the USA and ship into Russia. So my SAS process lasts a long time. Just in case: I use 231HD from RAM, bought mega short SYE from JB conversions and plan to bought custom drive shaft somewhere in USA after dodge will be on new axles.

@@aireddown813 Unless you find great deal on a Rubicon transfer case you're better off buying an Atlas . People want on the cheap end around $1500 and on full retard side about $2000 for their used nv241 cases with 4-1 . Most of these folks are selling their Rubicon cases because they bought an Atlas . On pirate the vendor prices were around $2500 for a 2spd atlas . I think if you have the room and few extra dollars going 4spd atlas is the way to go . I2.0 2.72 and 5.44 choice in low range would be nice . I have a 5.0 geared atlas with a stock 4.0 I still wish I had gone with the 4spd case since the 4.0 needs low range to have any guts with the 44s and 42s it runs .It works great in the rocks but lacks speed to climb long steep loose hills .
@aireddown8133 жыл бұрын
@@yerwrng this makes a lot of sense to me. And yes it’s incredible what the rubicon cases are going for. The dream is 4sp atlas or maybe a magnum box with NP205 or something. I’ve even been doing a little research on putting an 8HP 8 speed auto behind the ol 360. I’ve got the room for it and I could probably use a basic transfer case with it since the gearing is so low in first.

@@aireddown813 Yeah the 8spd trans would be good too ...lol .. would also cut down on shifters .

I hope not, but it might be. It’s 1/4”, but if it fails, I’ll engineer my own mount
