Dream Catchers Costa Rica | Episode 15 | The Guanacaste Dry Forest Conservation Fund

Advisor for the Guanacaste Dry Forest Conservation Fund (GDFCF) and volunteer at Santa Rosa National Park. Terri first came to Costa Rica when she was 17, as an exchange student to study tropical biology, and later returned while in college to study the social aspects, geology, and biology. She was hooked! Terri continued coming back to Costa Rica until she retired, followed a lifelong dream, and moved here.
Through other work with the Wege Foundation, she found her way to the GDFCF, which is comprised of an international team that works in the Área de Conservación Guanacaste (ACG), or the Guanacaste Conservation Area, in northwest Costa Rica. Founder Dan Janzen - a world-renowned conservation biologist - and the GDFCF have become a key partner to the Costa Rican government, managing 169,000 hectares (417,608 acres) of protected land and ensuring long-term ecosystem survival and biodiversity through “conservation, education, science-based management, and biodiversity development.”
Terri has pursued - and “caught” - her dream at the GDFCF, and is grateful to serve the local community and Costa Rica’s ecosystems. Here, she has carved out a niche that truly feels like home, and we're so thankful that she shared her story with us!
