I remember playing Paladins, which is basically overwatch and there was a guy playing Viktor on the other team (basically soldier 76). He was sprinting around the map so fast he would fly when he walked off a staircase and just perfectly laser aimbotting every shot while in full auto and spinning 360s. During his ult his movement speed is slowed a ton but he just made it faster and still zoomed around while calling an airstrike. It was just a random unranked game and my friend and I despite getting washed by this guy were just laughing our asses off the entire time. It was the funniest shit, and totally harmless. Trying to get one kill against him just to say you killed a hacker was pretty fun too

The reason firefighters shouldn’t use steroids is because it would be a bad influence to anyone who looks up to firefighters and as the use of steroids became used more often it would be easier and more likely for kids and non firefighters to use steroids. Which would not be good for everyone and could end up in a lot of companies and people to get sued.

Steroids can be dangerous, and quite often lead to health issues later in life. Imagine a fire fighter popping into your burning home to save you, only to have a shit fit because he's addicted to muscle-building drugs, or he suddenly drops dead from his heart stopping. I'd be an absolute disaster.

Allowing firefighters access to illegal steroids is a bad idea- though they will be stronger, sure, it also makes a massive opportunity for steroids to spill onto the open market and make it a far more available drug. Additionally, the side effects such as increases anger and aggression is without a doubt a bad idea for a firefighter to have.

that's such an interesting question! I would argue that as long as they know the risks and are VERY aware that the drug will effect their bodies possibly in very negatives ways then I would say go for it but there's one very glaring flaw. Side-effects. true, if a person willingly ingests something knowing the side-effects and decides the risk is worth it, it's on them. But roid rage is a thing. I don't know how it works, i'm not a pharmacist or a doctor or medical professional of any kind. But I doubt it's a good idea to give a first responder a drug that has heavy effect on your mental faculties. now if they were given a performance enhancing drug that didn't have side-effects that hindered a firefighter's ability to make judgement calls in the middle of a stressful environment, nor there ability to opporate physically in that environment, then i'd say go for it. They're adults and can take the risk that drug may pose on their bodies if they want. i mean if you think about it when you remove the competitive side of it all you're doing is giving yourself a better chance to save lives. PROVIDED the drug is taken for such circumstances. I mean obviously you'd want to have a lot of energy and muscles mass if you're breaking into a burning building but if you're trying to resuscitate someone or attempt something like cpr it's probably not going to be helpful as you'd need a bit more finesse and the mental faculties to know when to keep doing compressions and when to pull back... if you are too jittery or unfocused you have a very real chance to lose a civilian... then again cpr has a very low success rate. it helps for sure don't get me wrong but it's not like in movies where it works every time so maybe things like that aren't a big deal idk maybe i'll ask my boss' wife she works as an emt

Fire fighters are not professional athletes in competition with eachother. They would not gain any unfair advantage over an opponent by taking steroids. It would be unwise for them to take steroids because the physical benefits are normally overshadowed by major negative side effects.

I actually don’t think it’s a good idea/ethical for firefighters to use steroids, just because (too my knowledge) they’re very destructive towards the body, and you become dependent on them and become a lot weaker without them, and leads to many problems later in life, and something that could possibly happen is a fire fighter might have to retire early, meaning that fire fighting might now have been able to do as much good as they could have without steroids

As far as the whole firefighters question you posed I would say no; although it could be argued that the increase in testosterone would inhibit their decision making capabilites, not to mention the probable increase in domestic violence amongst firefighters. Militaries using stimulants to enhance soldier performance is quite comparable, both are ethically dubious and carry their own set of consequences but I would say in both situations the benefits probably outweigh the negatives.

Playing Battlefield 4 online, I was downed, revived and immediately downed again, like frame perfect. Once I got revived after this, I somehow became invincible. I will preface this comment by stating that I believe every human being deserves to put whatever they want in their body of their own volition, and this does mean that I personally believe it ethical for firefighters to use steroids. The only reason I can think of as to why it would be unethical for firefighters to use steroids is that it is unfair to regular people. If firefighters used steroids, why can't weightlifters or athletes? If we're looking for the pinnacle of human prowess, shouldn't we allow them to use whatever means necessary? I feel like this just comes down to an "ends justify the means" argument. I mean, if they're saving people, they should be able to do everything in their power to ensure that people are saved, because saving people is good. But special treatment or privileges are ultimately unfair to the general populace.
