Dream SMP Animatic // Eight

ON DESIGNS: In my work I like to make more unique designs for characters, so there are some details here you might have missed: -The 'shatter' effect on Ghostbur and Friend is intended to represent that he is a broken version of Wilbur, that imagery extends to anything in limbo as well. - The white outlined frames are meant to occur in either limbo or some other plane where Wilbur observes himself, similar to how we watch the characters on our screens, he can watch himself live the SMP in retrospect. - Revivebur has long hair because I imagine there's no barbers in limbo (which gives me a very funny image of what Schlatt must look like) - Ghostbur is a different character than Wilbur. - L'manburg Wilbur is a different character than Revivebur, but they mirror eachother. - Wilbur's bullet belt has no meaning, I just thought it carried the 'war criminal in exile' vibe. - People love to comment about Fundy's design, the real reason he wears a fox pelt rather than being a fox is because I don't know how to draw animals well. - Techno's design is the only one that has remained exactly the same from the Broken Crown animatic. Lastly, a lot of the designs I chose are from direct art feedback from the content creators, specifically Tommy, Tubbo, Fundy, and Ranboo, so thank you to them. The song choice comes from Wilbur's stream comment that Eight inspired his character.

Even a year later, with the story concluded, I still feel things for all these characters and all the people that took part in the beautiful mess known as the Dream SMP. Sincerly it changed the way i viewed characters and story telling as a whole and your animation drove home that fact tenfold. Trying not the freak out here because someone finally used eight in an animatic (and a DSMP animatic at that it just fits so well for c!wilbur) because it's such a damn good song. Your art style is awesome and I love the little details of the shattered glass effects and how, despite wilbur being the "villain", there's a story behind him and he's just as broken as the rest of them. So just to summarize, I really love this animatic :D

Somehow, this entire animation changed my view on Wilburs character. It was Gorgeously animated, the song was just absolutely perfect (makes senses, will says it’s the one he Associates the character with.) and omfg the designs were amazing! In 4 minutes my entire thoughts on a character I loved, hated, then just stoped caring for completely changed. Fantastic job!

This deserves all the likes. I fell in love with your art and scene sequences, the way scenes are in harmony with the song. God, I wish people start seeing this soon because this can be my fav c!wilbur animatic, and boy there are so many beauties out there and this might still win. Also gotta say that the hopeful ending was very appreciated, like there is still good in him. Like Ghostbur said "A villian is a hero you haven't convinced yet". It is easier the convince and used-to-be-hero than a usual villain. I hope someone will be Luke to his Darth Vader.

This was amazing! I knew I had to watch this just from seeing Eight in the title. I'm actually surprised that I haven't seen any animatics using Eight, because wilbur had mentioned once or twice on stream that the song had inspired his characterisation of alivebur. this animatic captured that so well!!! i really hope wilbur watches this at some point. not only is it a brilliant animatic, but i bet he'd find it interesting how you decided to interpret the song and its links to dsmp

Really and truly, this animation is amazing. It felt as beatiful and meaningful as Late August’s animations, for me, and that is high praise. Wilbur’s character is the reason I’m still hanging on to the Dream Smp. I hope he does new and cool things.

@@SketchboxAB This animation makes that ending with Wilbur’s revival so meaningful, but I’m just worried it’ll never be capitalized on. Wilbur hasn’t logged on for so long. I don’t think the Dream Smp is dying, but it’s slowed so much that a lot of momentum has been lost. But I love that sunrise moment. And you have done it best.
