Hi Guys! Just for information - This rear trailing arm (C-Shape one) was designed that it case of any accident, it will bend itself, to avoid situation where it will destroy fuel tank (that’s why they have a little break in the middle). This is the same part that is used in Non-M E9X platform. Great video as always! Cheers!
@SirDankNewton Жыл бұрын
Stuff like this is why I like factory arms when possible. I know on my SS there's a lot of aftermarket toe and trailing arms but the Z/28 has uprated bushings in both arms which is why I personally went with them. Of course it also helps that all 4 arms were less than a single set of aftermarket arms.

That's a really cool detail actually.

The M stock arms with sphericals I think is way better than the aftermarket ones with rubber that he replaced them with. Feel like M put more time into designing the part than those aftermarket ones. Its like a downgrade in my eyes.

ProTip: The oil level display in the iDrive doesn't reflect the total oil level of the 8.8L V8 oil capacity in the Engine. It is just used to indicate when you need to add 1-2L. When the S65 V8 blew you said the oil level was at 3/4 full....That is 2L down and the oil status should have gone red. Those M3 owners who have had the oil cooler in the front bumper punctured (and continued to drive the car home) know the feeling when the oil level goes red. There is an oil level sensor under the metal plate in the front that should be replaced after 150k miles, earlier if you track your M3. It might give false oil level readings as the car gets older. The best practice is to do an oil change and top up right before a track day, so you know you have 8.8L of oil in the engine, Maybe just add 1-2L before a track day. Ignore the oil overfill warning. M3 S65 V8s burn oil (1L per every 5k miles).
@ZelenKai10 ай бұрын
I have a S65 M3.. I will say this comment is wrong. The oil level shows 1 liter difference from top to bottom. That is why if it is below the bottom mark it says "+1 qt" on the display. You need to drive it and take multiple readings to get an updated one. Also, I don't know about this person's M3 but mine only burns 0.5 liter every 10k miles. I never need to top off oil between oil changes. And my car has over 60 track days on it already. They do not all burn oil. He may just have a bad example of an M3.

Hey, don’t worry about that ground wire. Trust me, you guys are not amateurs. I was a BMW tech in a previous life, and I’ve made worse mistakes. One time while training an apprentice I left the fill plug on the transmission loose and the car came back a month later with a destroyed transmission. We all make mistakes. The important thing is you found it, and fixed it, and didn’t ruin anything in the process!
@tomtom255 Жыл бұрын
Happy to see you got the engine and ground issue sorted, it’s so disheartening when that happens after a big job like swapping out the engine. Love the track wheels but I can’t say I’m feeling the TE37’s, to me, they are the pumpkin spice of wheels, but it’s your car and I love the content and I’m excited to see how it goes on the track. Great series as usual👍.

i vote for the apex wheels, that brushed finished just pops. I love the sort of sport street build. I feel your pain, this was the stage in my BMW ownership where I had to bite the bullet and sell the whole car for less that I spent on my rebuild. Nothing hurts more but the sooner you decide to bail, the more money you end up saving. After an engine swap the engine would die after the radiator fans kicked on. I was chasing electrical issues and about to tear the car apart until a buddy asked if I had an air filter on the throttle body. I did not and why would that matter I thought. The rad fans kicking on were blowing air into the intake tube and causing the MAF to get odd readings. Guy saved me an unreal amount of trouble.

TE’s for the win! Ever since Ken Block started running them on his cars, it has to be one of my favorite rims, even if it is Japanese. The only other wheels that imo look as perfect on this car are BBS’s LM and a couple other styles but these are great. Yes since you are going with the black trim and accents, a gun metal or bronze would have fit it a little better, but the aesthetics are there! Such fine attention to detail and patience is why I always love watching these series. Personally the e90 is one of my dream cars and I greatly appreciated the knowledge I gained from the Speed Academy. These cars are not cheap for the regular joes out here, but you get what you pay for, but seeing an RCF built in the future would be killer series now that they are less then 30K used. Love the content guys, keep up the great work!

Recently picked up a 2010 E90 M3, DCT as well and did the RB/TA maintenance along with Ohlins with the spherical bearing for the front control arm. I also did the ESS G1+ blower and the Do88 coolers as well. Been fighting an idle stumble whenever the car starts and a low speed stumble between 1000 and 1500rpm. Made me go look at the negative terminal out of curiosity LOL. It was correctly connected so thats not it LOL... These are great cars, coming from my most recent toy which was a AMG GTR many thought it was a step backwards. I feel its a step forward, V8 sounds with the DCT and blower make for a fun but inconspicuous sedan
