They are really all well crafted music, and they did it in record time, mind you.. hehe.. Barstool Warrior/S2N the thing that is amazing about the songs, not only the soaring guitar solos, but the verse and the amazing soaring harmonies in the chorus.. very impressed, this is good song writing.. but I'm biased.. Especially when one gets the context. For the whole song, the man tries to get to his loved one, the woman who was the rape victim. For the entire piece, he begs her "Don't leave me", meaning... he wants her to be like she used to be... before the tragic event. Finally, when her state is too much for him, he cannot deal with the situation anymore and leaves her and at the very end, she finally says to him "Don't leave me now..." when it seems it's already too late for both of them...
@Voltaphonic Жыл бұрын
@@DamianSieradzkioh I didn't know the last chorus supposed to be from the female PoV
@DamianSieradzki Жыл бұрын
@@Voltaphonic well that's the beauty of a good lyrics, which give you a glimpse, but leave a room for interpretation. IMO From the very begining, the song is sang by a male/spouse. Just after the solo, when the song slows down we finally hear the female victim with these lyrics: "Asked me to listen Can't go on to face another day I lied, not admitting What I lost is still in you" After that we hear the man once again, when he lost any hope for her to be as she was before... in a way that he also want's to help her, want's to be with her but it's simply too much: "Something's missing You see darkness in my eyes Maculate, there is no cure Playing over to stop pretending Walked inside, it's never ending turn" IMO this is when he decides to leave her, and this is also when she finally realizes that while seeing him through the new perspective (being r*ped by another man = he's man = he needs to be the same), what he also mentions by saying "you see darkness in my eyes", she finally realizes she still needs him. And that's why at the end of the song we can hear her DESPERATE call (towards her spouse): "Don't leave me now, don't leave me now Don't leave me now" ...together with this crying-like Petrucci's solo. This is how I see this song.

Petrucci's pick slide harmonics into the first artificial harmonic is probably the coolest intro to a guitar solo I have ever heard. This song just drips DT goodness but I would have dropped the fade-out in the final guitar solo, should have had it just slowly transition to the room Mic that they had in the final outro, without the long silence IMO. I hate that dream theater always fades out their greatest guitar solos just when they peak and petrucci is really just putting it into overdrive. They do it so often and i really wish i could hear the rest of the solo at full volume and any other stuff he laid down that didnt make the cut. Examples: Take the Time, The Ministry of Lost Souls, The Dark Eternal Night(Rudess), The Best of Times, Take Your Fingers From My Hair(Cover), Stargazer (Cover, Rudess again), A New Beginning, At Wits End. Please stop doing this.
