Honestly, if the rest of the album sounds something like this, I will be extremely pleased. The keys in this song sound so fantastic, and the mix between the bass and low end of the guitar really compliment each other, here. @THEREV4686 жыл бұрын
Veniamin Rozov but on a dramatic turn of events the drum parts were written written by Jp, Mangini had no creative input on that album except for just playing the parts that were given too him, as great of a drummer Mangini is tho, I still don’t think he’s right for dream theatre, as there music is still good, but you could really tell that portnoy was really the heart and soul of the band, and I haven’t heard any instrumentals or drum parts that have had me blown away unlike stuff from constant motion, panic attack, metropolis etc, just don’t hear it anymore. And watching live stuff lately is like meh because Mangini has no charisma at all he plays almost as if he’s bored, where as mike plays with so much charisma and always trying to please the crowd and get them hyped, I love going back and watching there 20th anniversary live album, the quality is so good

The first album i listened to by Dream Theater was ADToE. That is the album that drew me in. Far from their strongest but impressive enough to get me listening. It has been a strange progression but the more i have listened to Dream Theater the more i have come to love their earlier releases; Train of Thought and Scenes being my top 2 (right now but that will likely change lol). And it wasn't the first listen that made me fall in love with their older albums. They required numerous listens before i came to adore them. I am not sure why the newer releases are more appealing on a first listen while the older take more listens but maybe its complexity. Regardless, it saddens me to see so many comments wishing for the past... Yes they may have been in their prime but new is not a bad thing. I know the mixing on this song sounds a lot like their title album and the vocals are not as organic but the reality of it is, they are getting old. Can you imagine singing for this long and maintaining a voice? no. The guitar work is still dirty and i like what Rudess is doing on this song. Overall, i am pleased with what i hear.
@joshbriggs99476 жыл бұрын
Darth VanKar I completely agree. I think this may be almost a type of transition period for their sound. The album probably won’t break the music scene, but it could set up something that might. But yeah, they’re getting old, they might just be done. Still looking forward to the album though.
@thecrippler6066 жыл бұрын
@@joshbriggs9947 When DT said they were taking the jamming/improve approach i got excited and i can see the difference in the two songs released so far. With the raw guitar into and the clean break in the middle, the bass, and the dynamic keys, this is a strong song . I think the reason Dream Theater fans are so particular and picky is because of the bar DT has set for themselves. We are comparing these new songs to older DT but if we compared it to other new releases i still think it is on another level. Oh and I've pre ordered the album and have my tickets for their upcoming tour of DOT and SFaM tour.

@gigisonishvili52816 жыл бұрын
Same
@zabunia6 жыл бұрын
The unofficial uploads were taken down by the rights holder - I think it said SME - for a while yesterday, but appear to be back now. IIRC, the uploader has confirm (to KZbin) that someone else owns the rights to content in the video before the video is allowed back on. So while unofficial videos get some views, the label still gets the ad revenue. But yeah, I don't get why this video is still unlisted. More views, more attention.
@PaddyFullyRandom6 жыл бұрын
This is usually how you get exclusivitiy with extra attention from the platform you are premiering over. Views don't make the money either, neither will the album sales. So there's nothing lost. Only merch and touring make significant income.
@ianmitnick82456 жыл бұрын
Because now bands with their manager and label make youtube deals - in other words its like how many times a band's song got played on the radio and money royalties - so if this is inside out music and Dream Theater they have an agreement with either you tube views or youtube viewers and the band agrees to get a certain amount of money agreed upon with youtube views - just like any other youtube video channel - i think the best way to describe it is similar to radio station plays of a song over and over and royalties
@ianmitnick82456 жыл бұрын
and yes much more money is made from live concerts and merch than youtube plays and radio but they do get money from youtube views - some money but i guess it adds up - most of it is live concerts and merchandise - that is right -

This is molten gold. Untethered Angel seemed merely 'par for the course', but this is lean-forward-in-your-chair "YES". Meaty intro riff, big chorus, amazing melodic breakdown section, tight key solo, shred outro solo, gold, gold, gold. After the well-meaning regression that was The Astonishing, I hope this LP regains the momentum they had with the brilliant self-titled 2013 disc. Got my tix for LA in March, my 23rd show.
