And people say James can't sing. Very very moving vocals
@DanielVerberne4 жыл бұрын
When James vocals are working well, he's capable of delivering some extraordinarily moving and soulful performances. His vocals here are fantastic and on the studio version of course, just stunning. One of my favourite vocal performances by LaBrie is actually years ago on the 2000 live DVD of "Metropolis 2000", specifically on "A Change of Seasons".
@mattrogers72554 жыл бұрын
I think he does really well with soft and moving vocals like the ones present in this song. I think he has issues when he gets loud and high in his vocal range. He hurt is voice pretty bad early on in their career by both using some unhealthy techniques and also I believe he got sick at one point and kept singing against his doctor's wishes when he was supposed to be on vocal rest. He's never sounded quite the same since.

This song is special to me, I tried to bury a person who was very important to me, she tries to recover our relationship but I refuse trying to avoid the pain, 2 months had passed and I still miss her. a few weeks ago I listen this song and I understand, I was wrong. Today I'm recovering a relationship with a girl who is very important to me. Thank you so much dream theater.

I went through the same experience. The girl I love broke my heart, and we were not talking for about 2 weeks.. she were trying to recover our relationship, and I'm also refused. But I'm trying to open a new page of my life and forgive her of what she did to me. We're now rebuilding our relationship as a friend, a good friend. I guess that being a friend and forgetting what has happened makes us stronger to see what lies ahead.

LIRIK Is there ever really a right time You had led me to believe Someday you'd be there for me When the stars above aligned When you weren't so consumed I kept looking for the clues So I waited in the shadows of my heart And still the time was never right Until one day I stopped caring And began to forget why I longed to be so close And I disappeared into the darkness And the darkness turned to pain And never went away Until all that remained Was buried deep beneath the surface A shell of what things could have been Tired bones beneath a veil Of guarded secrets all too frail Sad to think I never knew You were searching for the words For the moment to emerge Yet the moment never came You couldn't risk my fragile frame Until one day you stopped caring And began to forget why you tried to be so close And you disappeared into the darkness And the darkness turned to pain And never went away Until all that remained Was buried deep beneath the surface I would scream just to be heard As if yelling at the stars I was bleeding just to feel You would never say a word Kept me reaching in the dark Always something to conceal Until one day I stopped caring And began to forget why I longed to be so close And I disappeared into the darkness And the darkness turned to pain And never went away Until all that remained Was buried deep beneath the surface

Best album they've done since the early days of Images and Words, Awake, and Falling into Infinity...not that the other ones are bad at all. They are all amazing. But this song and this album caught that deep magic again. I hear so many iconic bands from the past in their songs(kansas, Metallica, pink floyd, Yes, Rush, queensryche, etc)....truly they are one of the best bands ever.

I'm often struggling with listing to LaBries singing especially when he tries to sing the older songs which do not fit his voice anymore. But here it's just perfect and beautiful. I think the band should take more into account that his Voice has gotten older and also has changed in "colour", and consider this in writing new songs. Still looking forward for the new album with Portnoy though :)
@valeriocesarini566111 жыл бұрын
I can't really understand (and maybe it's my fault) critics about newest DT (after Portnoy) being sellouts or doing predictable commercial songs. This is nothing of that. A band can't be making concept albums and psychological songs all their career. A differently spiritual song with music and voice at these levels, to me, is a masterpiece as well. I personally never thought that a song is good ONLY if it's 8+ minutes, or if it's part of a big ensemble, or if it necessairly has jazz elements.
