Now i see the atmosphere of this concert and others of Falling Into Infinity era, and can agree that was a difficult moment of their career. You can see that they look having fun playing but at that moment (in Portnoy's words) they were about to split... a sort of tension is in the air. I think that Rudess in Metropolis Part II saves Dream Theater (although that i don't like the way that they follow later).

18:27 lmfao his namesake, “Mr Smalls” would be proud! 😂by far the most underrated keyboard player! This guy had an edge like a kick ass guitar player while the skill of a keyboard nerd but not so white bread. And most of all, mikes intro displays what a great sense of humor he brought into the band!

Not that cut and dry. He has amazing shows from this era, but you can also find some stinkers where it’s obvious he’s relearning how to use his voice.
