(This will be long sorry) Dreamcatcher is a group that has really been through a lot, I mean for 5 of the girls they had to deal with the disbandment of Minx and it took a huge toll on the girls, especially Siyeon. Luckily the CEO decided to try again and not give up on them and they debuted as Dreamcatcher, but even then they debuted as a group with a genre that wasn’t so normal in the Kpop industry and for a girl group at that so they were hated on and constantly told to change their sound and concept, they were treated like that, even till now it still seems like they still get ignored by the Kpop industry, so it’s been ongoing for almost 7 years now. People still hate on them without knowing their story. Us an InSomnias were actually a bit worried before they got their win because we felt like they were in a way, losing hope and it’s understandable because they were in a moment of loss after loss in the music shows for 5 YEARS, so you can imagine how they felt. After they won we knew they had a huge weight lifted off their shoulders and it gave them hope again. In Reason the lyrics “I might look different from you, but I’m not that different. I grew up getting hit and beaten. Everyone said I was wrong” really expresses what I’ve been saying. So the message in Reason is really one of my favorites.

BEcause is a summer song with Dreamcatcher's signature twist. As backgrpund, summer in SK and Japan usually associated with beach and scary things. Unlike other groups who went with the safe option, DC went all in with their horror concept. The MV is inspired from movie "Us", and the lyrics would bring chills down the spine if you analyze deeper. Reason was released exactly on their 6th debut anniversary (which was also Friday the 13th 2023, just like it was in 2017). It's also their 3rd song dedicated for their fans, after Fullmoon and "Over the Sky". In the MV, not only they show their previous showcases videos, the outfit in the animation also taken from the official MVs of their previous title tracks. It shows their journey through the years and finally get their first win on a music show, more than 5 years after their debut.

8:21 The significance of that clip during the "we are always with Insomnia" line is that is the exact moment they found out they won a music show after 5 years and over a dozen appearances in the finals. Staff told them they're going to record something after the live broadcast is over as an excuse to have them in the wings without giving anything away. They'd been finalists and never won so many times over so many years they had NO tension in their faces during the countdown; no ideas about actually winning at all. They got completely blindsided hearing their own song. In early Dreamcatcher they went to an amusement park together. A ride called Disco Pang Pang made Handong cry. In the BEcause m/v, at the abandoned amusement park, they put Handong on the Disco Pang Pang which I'm sure helped raise her personal horror levels at the least.

Reason, the first time i watched that video, i was in tears, and i watched it when i woke up that day when it came out. I became in insomnia during Maison era, and when i watched and read stuff about everything they have been through over the years, and when they got that win for the first time in over 5 years, really broke me. And so when i watched Reason, it just reminded me about everything ive seen about what they have been through, so all those emotions came out.

The ticking clock sound is cool, even cooler when you realize the girls are swaying back and forth much like a metronome. Perhaps like the one sitting on the shelf at 2:36. Or maybe it’s just one of those “Dreamcatcher Coincidences” people keep telling me about. Lol

In BEcause, Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art. "Reason" is the fan-song for Dreamcatcher's 6th anniversary. I can't even begin to describe how proud I am of them. They're flexing their rock and vocal muscles, while all three rappers make an appearance. InSomnia might be lifting them up, but they should know, they are also carrying us. Happy 6th anniversary, Dreamcatcher! Can you imagine this song live? With us InSomnia going Whoooo-whoooaaa and them singing over it? 😊 I wouldn't be surprised if the animations were done by a fan, I seem to recognize the style. Whoever did them, they did a great job. I see the book from the Nightmare arc, the mask from Scream, the gun from R.o.S.E Blue, the gagged bust from Boca, the cup from Odd Eye, the hand through the mirror from Good Night and the clock from Piri. Musically, I am in heaven. I'm a metalhead and I love the song. AND THAT RIFF! 🤘🎸 Obviously the song is an absolute anthem!

This is so random but 'Reason' ties really well into 'OOTD'. Just in that 'OOTD' is basically showing everything you see about celebrities that makes you think they are different/better than you is fake and manufactured. And part of 'Reason' is them telling their fans that they're not that different from them. We're all human. Also, regarding the animation, there's a ton of references to past mvs in the items floating around. Each member is animated wearing their favorite outfit from a past era. They're climbing a staircase cause they're known as staircase idols because of their gradual increase in popularity and acclaim. 😊

Dreamcatcher was known as a group called "MINX" and it was composed of 5 members : Jiu, Dami, Yoohyeon, SuA and Siyeon. The concept was bubbly (I like bubbly concept). MINX debuted in 2014 with 'Why Did You Come To My Home?' [MV]. But they rebranded it to "Dreamcatcher" and debuted as a 7 member group : Jiu (Leader), Yoohyeon, Dami, Handong (She wasn’t a MINX member), Gahyeon (Maknae) (She wasn’t a MINX member), Siyeon and SuA. Dreamcatcher has been known for their dark concept (I like dark concept too). Dreamcatcher debuted in 2017 with 'Chase Me' MV.

​​@@alexatakesalookIt gets easier, I was hung up on the SuA Siyeon differentiation about 2 months after I was solid on everyone else. Then again there are the Dreamcatcher doppelganger antics so no one is ever fully safe... In BEcause era Handong and Yoohyeon were both blonde and both their own mothers got them confused. SuA is a little bean and HATES short hair, which hers will almost always be dark and always long. Siyeon is all arms and legs and will often suddenly go around looking *tall*. Blonde bob Siyeon from Odd Eye is her iconic look, her hair will be short or long or any color. And those eyes. And that jawline 2:59.
