Breaking Out (An alternate telling of Piri's story. The difference this time is the Red String of Fate binding the girls together and helping them find each other and ultimately break out of the Nightmare.)

The story is actually all in the MV, but you literally have to go over it frame by frame to catch all of it. The guy is a paranormal investigator and the building is a hotel located in Switzerland. The owners sent him a letter asking him to come and check out strange happenings at the hotel. Attached to the letter is a picture of seven schoolgirls who disappeared many years before when the building was a girl's boarding school. The second song is Good Night which immediately follows Chase Me and resolves the whole ghost hunter plot. The third song is Fly High, which goes back to the time when the building was a school and shows what happened to the seven innocent girls who were staying there. The story then takes up where Good Night ended, with You & I, What, Piri, and Breaking Out. Seven songs for seven members. The Nightmare Story Arc.

"Bon Voyage" is the 3rd and final part of the Apocalypse trilogy, which is about the destruction of the environment by humanity. The members have mentioned that it is about giving nature a break. Any encounter between human beings always has separation attached to it as well, just as death is a part of life. SuA also said that the fluffy floating thing that Dami summons from her painting is a cell, representing nature. It has been named "Celly" and is adorable, right? My dark mind believes that they are saying "Have a good trip" to humanity, since we are well on our way of wiping ourselves out. It's like a breakup between humanity and the earth. Once humanity is gone, nature gets the break it needs and the circle will begin again. For me, the key to understanding the lyrics is that they are singing as human beings, not as a single person. And they are singing to nature, confessing their love and the realization that we are not good for nature and that it probably resents us. It could also be the other way round (them singing as mother nature to humanity). SuA jumping out after the dove seem to represent their desire for peace. The story of the MV seems to be that the rest of humanity has sheltered away under force fields after the apocalypse. This gives nature time to heal. Musically I can already say this is one of their best songs for me. The chorus slaps hard, and the variations between heavy and slow are just beautiful. It has emotion and impact at the same time. Putting JiU's sweet voice together with an acoustic guitar is simply genius. "Chase me" was their debut, released on January 13th (a Friday), 2017. It must have been nerve-wrecking for the members, re-debuting with a genre that is not popular in Korea after Minx failed. (5 of them were Minx before, this is quite the shock waiting for you.) But they already doubled their sales with this. And they stuck with the Rock/Metal vibe until today, now selling 50 times the albums than Minx did. This is the start of the Nightmare arc, which spans 6 MVs and 1 Japanese release. They are Nightmares here, and the Nightmare hunter is trying to dispel them - how that turns out is shown in the next one, Good Night. Their dance costume here is like a shortened Yukata, except wrapped right over left, something that's usually only done for the deceased. Fits well into the horror concept!

"Chase Me" is the first part of a 7-part storyline. The origin of the storyline is explained in the third part, "Fly High," which is the prequel. You are pretty much right about what you took from the "Bon Voyage" MV. That is the LAST video of the Apocalypse trilogy. So, earth is pretty much destroyed by mankind. So they decide, after fighting for it, to allow it a rest period to heal. That fuzzy floaty little guy is a cell, which represents a new beginning -a new earth and we call it Celly 😊

Chase Me was their debut in January 2017 Friday the 13th, the MV use horror/thriller concept, and the title of the single was Nightmare. Their early songs were highly influenced by j-rock but their Japanese tracks are even crazier. I know them a few months later when their songs were featured in Pump It Up rhythm arcade game, and fell in love ever since.

And you must know, Dreamcatcher’s songs hit different! They’ve got deep, meaningful lyrics while a lot of groups these days go for fun, trendy lyrics, Dreamcatcher has stuck to dropping tracks with real messages and theories since their debut. BONVOYAGE is part of their Apocalypse trilogy. (Maison = saving from global warming, Vision = fight for it) and BONVOYAGE is the aftermath of actually taking care of the Earth. Thats why the MV’s got two sides, the broken scenes and the beautiful ones, showing what happens when we step up. Then there’s Chase Me, which kicks off the Nightmare series (Chase Me, Goodnight, Fly High, What, You & I, and PIRI). The whole thing dives into nightmares and mental health issue. Chase Me is their debut song as DreamCatcher 5 out of 7 members first debuted as Minx back in 2014 or 2015 with a much different concept. Their concept back then is such a contrast to their current concept (especially their earlier releases as DreamCatcher)

The mainstream Kpop industry did not like the song. Mainstream Kpop fans did not like the song. Five of the members had been in a disbanded group called Minx so they had a small group of Minx fans who came over to Dreamcatcher, and they got some new fans who wanted something that wasn't just sweet and cute. But what happened was that international Kpop fans loved the sound and the song, and since then have been the driving force behind their eventual success. It took five years for them to win a music show award, but they never gave up and just kept getting better. The company is well aware of where the fans are so they tour extensively in America and Europe. The Kpop industry runs on a formula and Dreamcatcher do not fit that formula and rock music isn't popular in Korea. However, they have had an impact on Kpop because other artists and composers like what they do and it's crept into other groups. If you compare Kpop in 2016 to now you can see it.

I really like your reactions mann thank you so much for reacting to them and welcome to the Dreamworld❤ Yes "chase me" Is there debut,😂😂 it wasn't normal at all at that time, it was so heavy and fast even the members were scared to debut with this but they went ahead anyways and as you said everyone was shocked to see a group debut with such a song especially a 'girl group' the whole kpop was filled with cutesy concept and this was bold very much so they debuted with song with BPM 200 which was faster than any other girl groups title tracks. They actually failed once this was there re-debut and in Korea once a group fails they have no spot in industry, dreamcatcher were also called nugu-group which literally means 'who-group?' Their music videos, especially going from BOCA onwards really ramped up in production value. But I feel like they manage to do a lot with a little, like well placed use of lighting like you noted in JiU's part with the cool blue and warm orange lighting, or think Dami kneeling in front of the window in JUSTICE like a chosen warrior, and well designed sets that make good use of colour palettes (ODD EYE's red, white and blacks) or Yoohyeon surrounded by flowers in an otherwise blank background. For the CGI, They really shifted hard into CGI with Maison, the first of the 'Apocalypse' Trilogy (completed by VISION and BONVOYAGE). But for me I think it was a step backwards from their BOCA, ODD EYE and BEcause music videos that preceeded it. Because Maison was pretty much full CGI on green-screen and it didn't look that good. However they made use of the experience in making the next MV VISION, which while still large parts CGI, reintroduced real sets. Then finally came BONVOYAGE which is the perfect combination of good set design, efficient use of props and lighting, and enhanced with CGI. It's a perfect music video to complement a perfect song (and with a really good choreo too so this song has literally no weak spots). Lastly, you questioned their lore. I think their lore ended with essentially Piri (the final act of the Nightmare extended saga) or perhaps with Breaking Out or R.o.S.E. BLUE. Now it's more like concepts or themes that stretch over a trilogy or duology before shifting to something else. Chase Me, GOODNIGHT, Fly High was the original Nightmare trilogy and introduced their lore of being Nightmares trying to escape the curse that had been laid on them (probably other people have a better way of putting it, and there are whole theories and blog posts about it, but in the interests of simplicity thats the basics). Then you had YOU AND I, What and finally Piri in the extended, or 2nd Nightmare trilogy with basically the same lore. Breaking Out was a Japanese release and had similar themes, and R.o.S.E blue was a standalone collab that again followed similar themes. After that, their general pattern is to do a single, stand-alone release, followed by a new concept/sound over a trilogy or duology. So after Piri, you had Deja Vu (alongside BONVOYAGE one of their very best title tracks and one you should definitely put on your 'to watch' list), a standalone collab with Kings Raid mobile game, then their Dystopia Trilogy (Scream, BOCA, Odd Eye) which focused on themes of online bullying, hate comments and isolation. Then came another single release with BEcause, which kind of took them back into horror themes as it was inspired by the Jordan Peele movie 'Us', then the Apocalypse Trilogy (Maison, VISION, BONVOYAGE) which focused on environmental themes and taking care of the planet and each other. They didn't really do a singular concept after Apocalypse, instead opting into a 2 part conceptual release of OOTD and JUSTICE. This was less of a theme inspired one like Dystopia and Apocalypse, but more of a lore type concept again, which was started of by a wild ARG game on Twitter with mysterious and creepy posts by a made up character with concepts of doppelgangers, alternative universe versions of yourself, being replaced etc. If you want to look through the whole ARG in a timestamped fashion your best bet is to go onto the r/dreamcatcher subreddit because it's all catalogued and timestamped with megathreads (r/dreamcatcher is a SOLID source of information for all things Dreamcatcher and well worth a visit). If you're still reading, congratulations, you're into the group deep and about to go down a rabbit hole of content

OOTD, JUSTICE Obviously, you already started on some, but pick out the ones you haven't watched from the trilogies you already watched part of and it might help you get a fuller picture of their concepts. I recommend Fairytale, Demian, Shatter, Curse of the Spider (2024 concert version) to start off with.

Someone already mentioned their Eclipse anime opening, and Deja Vu / Rose Blue are game OSTs. But if you really are brave then try Shadow by Siyeon+Dami. There are two versions, normal and slow, should be listened in this order. It's OST for something like a zombie (not quite, but not important) TV series, so whatever is happen on the screen in these MVs is about the TV series, not about song. Siyeon (She-yeon) is their main vocal and one you like, blue hair in Bon Voyage. And Dami is the main rapper but also so much more. Just do it, you won't regret. Oh, and trying to rank their songs is a painful and futile endeavour, because too many of them are 10/10 S-tier.

Dreamcatcher’s debut chase me and goodnight are so unique and good. Until this day i still dont understand why they are still not yet popular!!! In my opinion their songs and singing are way better than many girl groups out there. Please react to deja vu and silent night. You will love them.

As someone else commented, if you want to know about their early days and how the group came to be and survive in the k-pop industry, there is a video called "dodging disbandment and other extreme sports" from a KZbinr called Mera, who talks about Dreamcatcher history. It's a 2020 video I think, so pretty outdated, but it's the best video about how they started. There are some great guides too that you can find to learn a bit more about the girls. If I was you, I would want to devour some Dreamcatcher content by myself instead of always making reactions lol. There are too much content to record everything, but everything from Dreamcatcher is worth watching.

part 2 : Dreamcatcher - good night

They have different storylines, BONVOYAGE is the last song in the "Apocalypse Trilogy" (the first song is MAISON and the second is VISION). In MAISON the world is getting poluted and destroyed, so Dreamcatcher descent from heavens as some kind of goddess and try to help (the song is a message of awareness about the environment and how we are destroying the planet) In VISION things get uglier and more warlike, so they need to take more direct action and send a message of peace to the whole world, or else the wars will continue to destroy the planet even more (the song is a message of union against who makes wars) BONVOYAGE is a love letter to Earth, things are calming down but nature needs time and space to recover, so humanity temporarily retreats (there are some stories in science fiction where humanity spent some time in space while the planet recovered, but from the BONVOYAGE MV it seems that humanity stayed on Earth living in isolated regions, we see Gahyeon deactivating a dome/barrier at the end of the video) -- They have another trilogy called Dystopia, the songs in order are: Scream, Boca and Odd Eye. Each song is a different era of humanity (the MV for Scream is more medieval, Boca is modern era and Odd Eye is futuristic), what I get from the songs is that they're fighting against people who spread hate, and Odd Eye also seems to talk about the deceiving nature of social media. Their first storyline is the "Nightmare" series that started with their debut Chase Me. They were some kind of young witches who got cursed by an entity in the form of a spider and become trapped in the nightmare world (each of the 7 girls represent a different fear/nightmare). Then this guy in the Chase Me MV (Nightmare Hunter) goes to catch them like if he's some sort of ghost hunter or I don't know, but things don't go as planned. This storyline is pretty confusing, but you can come with your own interpretation after seeing their 6 first MVs. Their first japanese title track (Breaking Out) is considered an alternate ending for the Nightmare Series, so it's technically 7 videos if you count that one too.
