Thanks for the Dreamcatcher reaction. If you guys want more songs from Dreamcatcher, I recommend Deja Vu, Scream, and Bon Voyage.

Dreamcatcher is pretty darn active. They have two comebacks a year. They've not taken a hiatus in seven years lol. They're not on your radar because, well, they're just not super popular. They are quite popular overseas, but if you mostly listen to big4 groups or super popular groups and discover more groups at that level, a small-company group like DC might slip through the cracks.

Hey guys, thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher! I wanted to give y'all some info since you were asking for it. 5 of the 7 members (Jiu, Sua, Siyeon, Yoohyeon, & Dami) debuted in 2014 as Minx. Minx had a concept that was typical of girl groups at that time with more of a bubblegum pop/hip hop sound. Due to some mismanagement decisions by their company and being from a smaller company in an oversaturated market they were unable to stand out enough to gain a solid fanbase and were disbanded. However, their CEO knew they had the talent to be successful so instead of canceling their contracts he decided to bet everything on the girls. He sold his controlling stock in his company, Happyface Entertainment, and used that money to re-debut them. They changed out all of their staff, managers, and production team, brought on 2 new members (Gahyun and Handong) and Dreamcatcher was born on January 13th (a Friday), 2017. They debuted with a horror concept called Nightmare and their sound was k-pop/rock fusion. At that time there were no girl groups doing rock or horror concepts, let alone both, so it was a massive gamble on their part. While Dreamcatcher's core sound is rock/metal infused k-pop for their title tracks, they are genre benders, and their discography is incredibly diverse. Their b-sides span dozens of genres and sub-genres including R&B, EDM, Trap, Trance, Funk, Reggae, Pop, Rock, and much more. The reason you're probably not that familiar with them and never hear much about them is that due to their sound and concept they're still relatively unknown/unpopular in Korea. They don't really follow trends in the market, and they don't make music to appeal to tiktok users either (shorter songs with easier choreo). Despite all of that they were able to find a rather large following internationally and it's allowed them to remain active and busy, even 7 years after their debut. They just wrapped up a tour through Europe earlier in the year and are kicking off a small South Ameria tour soon followed by a tour in the US later in the fall. They are also only one of a handful of 3rd gen groups who are still active. Not only did they resign their contracts over a year early they all decided to do it together to show their love for what they do, for each other, and for their fans. Here are all the members and where they show up in the MV in your video. Take these positions with a grain of salt, they've not been updated since debut (with he exception of adding Gahyeon to the rap line) and don't really apply anymore since they've all continued to improve over the years. Jiu - Leader, lead vocal, lead dancer, visual - 1:55 Sua - Main dancer, lead rapper, vocalist - 2:51 Siyeon - Main vocalist - 3:30 Handong - vocalist, Chinese member - 2:35 Yoohyeon - Lead vocalist - 2:20 Dami - Main rapper, lead dancer, vocalist - 2:30 Gahyun - lead rapper, vocalist, maknae - 2:41 I hope you'll decide to check out more of their music. Honestly, this EP would be a great place to start. There's only 5 songs, counting Justice, and there's a live showcase for the song 2 Rings since it has Choreo. There's also a live showcase for Justice as well. Siyeon, the main vocalist, is on hiatus so if you do the live showcases, you'll see the other members cover her parts in the songs and they do a fantastic job. They also have an Its Live performance where you can see them perform the song with a live band which is a great watch. Thanks and I hope you react to more of their music!

They started off as minx back in 2014 with one of kpop's highest notes at the time (Siyeon's whistle note at 19) and their first comeback in 2015 with a remake of their senior group's song which became a sort of classic in South Korea but they failed to maintain fan attention between comebacks since they didnt stand out in a sea of similar cute concepts. In 2017 the CEO decided to use his background as an organizer of jpop shows and their main vocalist Siyeon's background as a rock band lead singer to rebrand minx into a rock-pop group with a horror concept and added two new members Gahyun and Handong to the line up. The group itself debuted as a touring group, as in their music is mostly focussed on stage performances during tours as opposed to just studio versions or digital albums. They have basically trained as live singers and performers and so even their "weakest" performer is stronger than most. Sometime around 2018 with their album Alone in the City they settled into a rock-fusion sound for title tracks and have continued this trend with their music. Scream, OOTD and BEcause are possibly their most fusion heavy songs since they lean slightly less rock but are still under the rock sub genre with OOTD in particular being a dark parody of flex songs in kpop. As for the members they all bring something unique to the table and while Siyeon and Dami are the two core voices in the group, everyone has a specific area that they have mastered which is crucial to their music. The choreo and vocal parts are always designed to perfectly fit the energy and style of each member. They were the first ever kpop group to ever perform at Primavera sound festival. They have quite literally gone from busking ay bus stops and public gardens for attention to being provided private jets by organizers when they missed a flight.

Welcome to the Dream World! Dreamcatcher never fails to impress. Once again, this comeback is absolutely stunning. The melody is captivating, the vocals are powerful, and each of the seven members shines brightly. Since their debut in 2017, Dreamcatcher has stood out in the K-pop scene with their unique blend of rock, metal, and dark themes. Their growth has been slow but steady, earning a loyal fanbase called InSomnia. Today, Dreamcatcher enjoys international recognition and receives praise for their creativity and high-quality production, proving that authenticity and perseverance can lead to success in the competitive K-pop industry. Their 10th mini-album, "VirtuouS," is a true gem with five amazing tracks. How to describe perfection? I just love it. 😍

Fandom is called InSomnia (In Dreams (Latin)). You guys probably never heard of them because they aren’t mainstream, their sound isn’t popular in S. Korea, they don’t follow what is trending, and they came from a small company;however, they’ve becoming more popular and gradually increasing their fanbase each passing year. They went from MINX (cute concept) to Dreamcatcher (rock, dark concept) because the cute concept is too over saturated and competitive;therefore, they didn’t do well. Their CEO always wanted to bring rock from Japan to S. Korea, so instead of disbanding MINX, he rebranded the group since he saw how talented and close the girls were. They are one of the few girl groups that overcame the 7 years curse. You guys might want to start with Chase me (debut song) and the Nightmare series [Chase me, Good Night, Fly High (prequel), You and I, What, Piri, Breaking out (alt. Ending)]. However, I like the Apoclypse trilogy [MAISON, VISION, BON VOYAGE]: 1) MAISON gave them their first win & 2) BON VOYAGE was a perfect, farewell ending for the trilogy. But, my favorite series is the Dystopia trilogy [Scream, BOCA, Odd eye]. Edit/ don’t sleep on their B-side songs. Good luck on the Dreamcatcher journey if you choose to check them out

IMHO The reason why they are not super popular is people are superficial and never give enough time to really listen and understand. Dreamcatcher songs, especially title tracks are way too complex to process especially without background knowledge of their lore, symbolism. For us, InSomnia (DreamCatcher fandom) these are perfect as the replay value of their M/Vs is insane and I cannot name one single K-Pop artist that goes this deep. But many listen to their songs once and most never return as they need too much time to fully reach their full potential. Even InSomnia had a debate over their previous OOTD M/V that needed on avg 10+ listen and some background info to hit, otherwise the 3rd and most important, the sarcastic layer was not obvious enough and many misinterpreted the song. One needs to accept the fact that in a dreamcatcher video almost every scene that does not directly showing the choreo has a meaning. All those objects, colors, gestures has a purpose and many just feel overwhelmed and they not even attempt trying to process. Moreover they are in their own genre, something they have been pioneering for almost decade now and noone exactly does what they do. But people who are not familiar with their music just start comparing them to someone else - that they are not - as actually understanding and appreciating their music is a time consuming process. And whoever stops at DreamCatcher does rock and anime opening stuff level will never get to know their music. Most who actually starts listening their albums will soon rank them as one of the best girl groups but not many gets to this level. The sheer lengths of the article explaining the background of this video is something like 4 pages long: genius.com/discussions/484386-Feature-a-fight-between-villains-and-heroes-explaining-dreamcatchers-versus-series

They have so many good songs I don't even know where to start! RISING, STOMP, ODD EYE, VISION I think mostly children listen to kpop and you kinda gotta be mature to GET Dreamcatcher, that's why Koreans don't really listen to DC they're such a departure from regular bubblegum kpop they're used to, but I think that contributes to their longevity, they don't have such a target on their backs, they're free to create however they like without the pressure persay.
