Dreams on Hold w/ Kate Courtney

In spring 2020, as rumors of an eventual postponement of the Olympics to 2021 loomed, athletes were left in limbo. What do you do when your season is put in question and they reschedule the most important goal you have been working towards for more than four years?
You go back to work. At least for Kate Courtney of the SCOTT- SRAM racing team. Her dreams may be on hold, but her determination and dedication to be the best are not.

Kate Courtney will forever be an inspiration to me from now until I am old and dying. I hope to be like her one day, at the top racing but that’s a big dream. I know that if I work hard every day to get to that spot, I’ll be there one day. I know a lot of people have that dream now but, I’m hoping to be one that holds on to that dream and I pray to God everyday hoping that that is his plan for me.

Madine Whitmer speaking from the wisdom of age and experience here, while the odds of you being a world champion are slim, if you train anywhere close to the elite level she (and other pros do), eat healthy food, get good coaching and race a lot, you will find yourself on podiums wherever you race, and a wall of medals and ribbons at your home. Plus build a level of fitness that will last you for many years, and great memories that will last your lifetime.

Every time I see you train I just sit back in amazement. You shook up the XC world and the racing over the past 2 years has been the best we have ever seen. You will be on that top step of the Olympic Podium one day, without doubt.
