Many of us weren’t raised by parents who told us we are enough and didn’t praise us and now as adults we struggle to find our worth and can’t see it. So sad. I raised my son the opposite of what my parents did. I praised him, complimented him, never squashed his dreams and he’s 31 and very successful, happy and well adjusted. We can still overcome if we accept that our parents messed up and had no knowledge to pass on and projected their own insecurities and inefficiency on us and it wasn’t their fault.

Actually, it’s not a good thing to praise kids. Only if they ask for it. Praising kids teaches them to be people pleasers. There’s also a difference between pro aiding kids based on performance vs effort. I read about this the other day, so thought I would share.

Joy, your message is spot-on about how to have a good life. We become what we think and believe about ourselves. I'm an old-timer, age 75, and I didn't discover the truth in your message until around age 40, which is when my life became wonderful. The "tool" I used to change how I see myself has been a gratitude list. I started writing it back in 1989, putting in every little, and larger gratitude, starting by thinking trough my childhood up until the present day. Today that list is over 54,000 words - 134 pages single-space typed into a Word document. Doing this exercise, and keeping it going over the years, caused a total shift in how I saw myself. Everything changed for the better. My life changed, my marriage changed, my business changed - all for the better. It's a wonderful message. What we think about expands, and by keeping grateful, I keep getting more things about which to be grateful. Try this. Keep it going, it works.

I loved your point about not relying on external factors to determine your worth in a relationship. I'm so tired of hearing about "low-value man this" or "high-value woman that." It's such a cruel and reductive way to speak about people, and it makes romantic partnerships seem like a transaction.

Thanks Joy. Today, after doing a self-concept sleep meditation where I affirmed that I am royalty, a queen, and a gift to others, I experienced special and honorable treatment. At the chemist, an elderly lady kindly helped me by taking a shopping basket for me. Then, at Woolies, a worker assisted me with the trolley. I met an Uber driver from Newcastle, and she helped me load my stuff into the car. Older ladies have shown me such kindness and compassion. Just last week, I was on a bus, and an elderly lady tried to talk to me.

I am in awe of the hours and work you put into this. While watching this for the purpose that I want to apply changing my self concept into my life, it kinda feels like meditation except it’s the loving kindness meditation. I’ve tried this type of meditation before and the point of the meditation is to be kind, gentle and compassionate towards yourself. I feel this connects to the idea of changing your self concept, as you mention if you don’t enlarge your value of yourself your value won’t value you. Material possessions have value except your own values are more valuable than material things. I like how you can apply self concept in any areas of life such as manifesting an SP, soulmate or your dream life. I think this is what I like about manifestation is that it focuses on your inner self than focusing on what you want. Because I think gratitude is important to have and it changed my life, and I now do it daily to start my day.

Well here’s the thing When I was in high school my perception of myself was very high but as I grow older I realized I’m very ordinary if anything I’m less… I’m not particularly smart, or beautiful or talented and I compare myself to other a toxic amount to the point where I don’t get close to anyone because they leave me questioning myself. The truth is the reality of my situation eventually beat my perception and reality caught up with me like a tsunami crushing me down more then ever! My self confidence is none existent and it’s only getting worse but what I am doing about this issue with myself is just working with myself everyday.. the first step is that I’m aware of the issue so that’s great. Life is what you make it SOMETIMES for SOME people. Perception is not reality, sometimes is it but only to you.

I realized something as well, its about pride/confidence. When you do things in certain order, you just have more pride because of that behavior. Like rather than eating directly from cooker, if you take it out on a plate, then eat it. It makes you feel right. When we do stuff wrongly, we just hide it from others. Like, we don't want to show others that we sometimes don't wash hands after tying our shoelaces. But when you do. It just keeps up. And you feel better internally.

And it wasn't even that they didn't want to have the conversation.....they just didn't know what to say really. They had never thought about ANYTHING like this. And people would either get freaked or weirded out and ask why tf I was thinking about and talking about stuff like this. Or they'd just have a glazed over look in their eyes and say yeah I don't know 😂 Some people you could tell it opened a door in their mind.....they would get quiet and not really say anything. But you could see it did something to them.

I admire your ability to see yourself as special and unique. I have difficulty seeing myself as special and unique as no one else seems to see it and I see billions of other people on the planet with similar desires (at the core - the desire to feel worthy and to create things that interest us.) I see us all as replaceable ants and that life will easily go on without us. When I put my finger in a glass of water, stir, and withdraw my finger, there is not a hole remaining in the water where my finger was. To me that proves I am not indispensable. Hats off to everyone who can and does see themselves as having value. I just see specks of dust on a tiny speck of dust in an infinite universe. In other words, none of us matter.
