Well, you got knowledge that may be based on someone else's wisdom. That's not bad. But it's not the same as wisdom. If you do something with the knowledge, the resulting experience may lead to wisdom. But there is no shortcut to wisdom. It takes experience and by extension, some time. This is why employers value experience over knowledge. You can have knowledge with no wisdom. But it's unlikely you'll have wisdom with no knowledge. Knowledge is easy to accumulate. Click a link. Open a book. Bam. Done. Wisdom, not so much. (the "Bam" leading to wisdom is often literal. And painful. But super useful :)

10:30 "You have to push through the rust!" This line resonated with me. I suffer a lot due to procrastinating and worrying about failure, being a perfectionist, etc. I love this analogy. I'm going to remember this line as part of learning to accept failure as part of the process from now on. The image of the clogged pipe in my mind makes so much sense. Like the rust (failure) is creating a backup or blockage to the clean water (success). I have to accept that failure is just part of the process, not something to be avoided and afraid of, but something to accept with courage and get through. Any time I think "I can't do that, what if I fail?" "Then fail, and try again. If you fail again, then try again and again until you're successful. You have to push through the rust!"

I’ve seen dozens of these selfhelp digests and non of them stress the most important thing. The real problem is implementation, not having the right information. It’s incredibly hard to put your life in order if you haven’t acquired the necessary skills and habits from your parents or have a psychiatric condition. Most adults are overworked, barely scraping by and don’t have the energy to do any of this.

The worst thing you can possibly do to a man who is struggling is to take away his agency. So think about who might pick up your message and what it would mean if they accepted it as 100% reality. Research renowned psychologist Martin Seligman. His research was about the stories we tell ourselves and what effect they have on our lives, and how we live.
@nebylicza8 күн бұрын
@I’ve read Seligman. Obviously stories matter, that’s why therapy works, but stories have limited usefulness. No story will make your bipolar better. I can tell you that firsthand. I went through quite a bit of therapy and some stuff got better, but not my chronic fatigue and mood swings. Your reading of “my message” is not correct. I’m not saying it’s hopeless, give up. I’m saying fix yourself is way harder than these videos make it out to be. Because of this I tried and failed sooo many times and felt like a failure while in reality I was handicapped compared to “normal” people which is really a function of privilege as above comment stated. I’ve seen literally zero videos that stress this and I know for a fact I’m not alone.

@nebylicza I agree with you, it's not as easy as these videos make it out to be for most people, except possibly for people who are truly ripe for the information, and content creators probably should make that more clear in order to not discourage, I agree. I'm sorry to jump the gun on your message. I have known people with very persistent personality disorders, including myself actually, I should have been more sensitive. At the same time I've known people who were stuck in a rut, lacked the confidence and know how, who truly needed someone to believe in them and encourage them, so I was seeing your message as possibly being taken the wrong way by someone like that. Peace and best of luck.

This video was really well made. It covered so many topics at the same time that I had to watch it a couple of times while still taking notes.. Excellent work. Thank you for making such a great video
