I’ve started listening to you recently, and honestly I don’t really know how you aren’t extremely popular. Your versions of the song are just as good as the originals. I know eventually you will get the fame you deserve because with the musical talent you have it’s bound to happen. I know you’ve been posting for over a decade and you aren’t as famous as you should be, but it’s like wine or cheese it needs time. So far my favorite songs versions you have made are “daydream believer”, and “dreamy eyes”.

Thanks, truename8825! I really appreciate your nice comments! My goal is to reach 10,000 subscribers, so I'll keep working at it! Thanks for your encouragement! Currently I'm trying to get over a long-lasting throat irritation and cough, so I'm taking a break, but I can't wait to start recording my favorite songs again. Thank you so much for watching! 😀

Beautiful rendition of a Tillotson song...he had a mellow voice as you do,,,

Thanks, Chris! I really appreciate it! By the way, I think Johnny Tillotson was still performing well into his 70s. He's 86, now, though, so I don't know if he still performs. 😀

Thanks, Dan! I actually recorded this a few winters ago. I got up and it was snowing, and that usually puts me in the mood to record something, so I grabbed my ukulele and rattled off a few songs. 😀

❤lovely songJohn, I akways love your strumming pattern, was it down up chuck?
@paxukulele4 ай бұрын
Thanks, Wai Fun! I usually strum by feeling, so there might be variations throughout the song, but basically, I'm alternating thumb and forefinger on the down strums. The forefinger strum is a bit more brisk than the thumb strum, so it sounds similar to a chuck. And I throw in a few up-strums with the forefinger. For example, in the first line, on the word "dreamy" it's down (thumb) down (forefinger), then on the word "eyes" it's down (thumb) followed quickly by an upstrum with the forefinger then downstrum (forefinger), then during the space between words downstrum with thumb followed quickly by upstrum and downstrum with the forefinger) on the word "you've", then on the word "got," back to the downstrum (thumb) upstrum (forefinger). I think it's hard to try to learn strumming this way, so I recommend just starting with the alternating thumb and forefinger on downstrums. As that pattern starts feeling more comfortable, then you can try to throw in the upstrums.

@paxukulele4 ай бұрын
Thanks, Jodi! This song was first released in 1958, but did better in the charts when it was re-released in 1961. This was pre-Beatles when idol singers like Frankie Avalon and Fabian were huge. 😀

@@paxukulele Interesting. It's hard for me to find song that I like and one that likes me. Any suggestions?
@paxukulele4 ай бұрын
@@ukulelejodi5175 How about "Johnny Angel"? I love that song, but it's one I can't do. Ha ha! How about some of the songs by the Carpenters, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, or Carly Simon? Also, listening to an oldies radio station might give you some ideas. Another idea is to do a tribute song when a famous music artist passes away. You can find the chords for most songs on the Internet by Google-searching the song title followed by the word "chords." When you find the chords, I advise finding a key that suits your vocal range. I remember in the late 80s when I was discovering the Internet, it was exciting hunting for chords for songs and so enjoyable adding new songs to my collection. Good ukulele practice, too! 😀

Long time no see, right John? You doing great so far?

Hi Ashton! How are you? As for me, I'm still kicking, but definitely slowing down. Gonna retire from one of my schools next January and reduce my teaching load to two days a week. I think I'll remain busy, however, as I transition to babysitting my grandkids. It's all good! I hope you're doing fine! 😀
