oh my god. the kinztube footage just hit me like a truck. TW: suicide. 6 years ago, my beautiful best friend ended her life at only 12. she loved webkinz so so much. she had so many, i was always jealous. i used to bring mine over and we would film low quality kinztube videos and laugh at the lack of plot. nobody watched them except for us and our friends. but when she died, her account got taken down by her family due to bullying. the videos are gone now. but i will always remember our webkinz skits and laughter. thank you for reminding me of these times. i leave a webkinz plush and flowers at her site every year. i’m so glad you unlocked such precious memories. ❤️

Hey there! I founded Kinzvestigation a few years back, a group dedicated to unearthing and preserving the history of this poor 18 year old flash game, and I have some cool facts I'd like to share, specifically about Leaf Leaf. Of course it only lasted a few months. We have its files, actually, though not in a playable state. There IS one sound in them, a generic boing, but we dont know where or even if it was used. We interviewed a 2005 player some time ago, who testified that it had a catastrophic glitch that would let you farm money in it, and that when Ganz fixed it, everyone stopped playing the game, speeding up its removal. I'd take that with a grain of salt, of course, but it's very interesting. (Bonus fun fact: Remember the magical forest having music in it, that would change as you scrolled? Yeah, that just vanished one day and never came back. It's not even in the files anymore. This game is very functional

I remember having so many Webkinz. My parents basically used them as a way to reward me for good behavior. Unfortunately, they've all been lost to a house fire. But as an adult now, I still smile when I see a Webkinz at a yard sale or a thrift store. I remember being obsessed with them but now I can admire them from a distance and leave them for someone else. This video is a great visit down memory lane.

I'm surprised you didn't really mention the Wekinz Music Videos and the lore in those! I always assumed that the NPCs and Webkinz were the same species, because in the music videos regular pets you could adopt (Like the pink poodle, skunk, white fluffy cat, etc.) were seen walking around upright with clothes on like the NPCs. It kind of made me think that the Webkinz pets were like babies that grew up into NPCs. Idk if that makes sense though. Loved this iceberg, it reminded me to log back into webkinz and check on all my pet friends! :)

Kind of a funny story about the Webkinz ghosts you mentioned at 1:08:19 I started playing Webkinz before I could fully read, so I usually had to have my dad playing with me to fully understand the game. We were playing the 'Don't Rock the Boat' game, and got the "jump scare" from the ghost pirate. If you encountered the ghost pirate, whichever pet you were currently playing as would have all it's health/happiness bars be knocked down to 0. I guess child me had a weird sense of virtual-pet empathy, so this situation made me so upset I started uncontrollably crying. My dad wound up taking me out for ice cream to calm me down, so it wasn't all bad lmao

I have been playing webkinz relatively consistently since 2008 and I love this video! As a Webkinz player since 2011, this was AMAZING. I learned so much I didn’t know. Mazin hamsters was my life back in the day. I miss it so much. I’ve seen many pet names at the arcade, Mr. Seaworld Victim being my favorite. I have pets of my own I like to get high scores with too! Most of them being named after characters I like. :) Another thing I’d like to mention was Daisy Doe’s campaign back in 2014. She wanted to remove junk food from the WShop and replace it with healthier food. Young me made posters against her and hung it on my bedroom door. I do actually remember the Webkinz killer, but I was a bit late to the rumor. I discovered it in 2015 maybe. I was somehow convinced it was real and had multiple nightmares about it. 💀 That theory at the end was incredible. I’ll never look at those characters the same way again and I want to know more of the story now.

moshi monsters wasn't toys to life, the merch came after the game and didn't involve redeeming things of that nature. most other webkinz clones are lost media with no preserved assets barring a video or two if they're lucky enough for even that. that's why there aren't many videos; the only physical remnant is the plush toy that they made for those sites

I stole a nametag off a Webkinz in a store once as a kid and the code actually worked. It was a beagle stuffie and I regret nothing. I just wanted to be part of the cool kids that had one so bad.

This is the iceberg I never knew I needed. I am 23 now but I got my first Webkinz when I was 6. My sister helped create my account and it actually is the reason all of my base usernames include beauty in the name. I had a Mazin Hamster back then. I played that game more than the original. I am so mad they got rid of it. I would play Webkinz in computer class when we got free time. Even today, I play it to pass time. I have about 100 rooms now and 400k kinzcash. I used to be a beast playing Lily Pads, but now my forte is Tiles. I love Webkinz. It brings me so much joy.

Oh wow! Every video on this channel gives me so much nostalgia, but I can say there was nothing I was obsessed with more as a kid than Webkinz! It's a shame how money hungry the game unfortunately is though. I remember all the games used to be pretty much accessible for a year per plush purchase and code redemption, which wasn't actually super bad in comparison because kids could generally ask for a webkinz for their birthday or Christmas, and $15-20 (depending if it was a regular plush or signature) per year of usage and owning a plushie isn't really bad, plus, the plushies were really cute. A very cute idea to have a plush animal come to life. I wish they didn't retire their old lineup and change the membership thing.

man hearing about some of the changes that happened is surreal.. my sister and I played webkinz alot as a kid. like alot. cant believe some games I used to play are locked behind a paywall (is this still the case? idk if they backpeddaled at all.) I remember playing once again like a couple years back as a gag with someone for nostalgia, but dont remember what changes were there or not lol
