Last time I was desperate for Sims, was in 2014, and of course I fucked up my laptop. Ever since then, every time someone suggests sending me a torrent of a game, I'm swallowing my pride and say "no thanks, I'm scared of those"😅 Also since that happened, it killed my appetite for Sims, so m'yeah. Good times.

The crazy part is that I was in elementary school PE in the 2010s and it is almost identical to what you described. Except our PE closet was actually an outside container because we didn’t have a gym at my school because it was really old.

The music at Modern Era was driving me crazy because I knew what it was but couldn't remember what game it's from. It's Sims 2 DS "Strange Night".

I always just bought the desserts. I rarely ever actually ate the food itself. This remained all the way until highschool (although during my senior year I would occasionally pick up food from a restaurant, as I had a car then).

I know you could’ve played one level in some Superhero movies. Like in the 2003 Hulk movie, if you owned an original Xbox you could’ve played the first level of the Hulk game.

When I was a kid it was always chocolate bars that we had to sell and they were expensive. Like 5 dollars a bar back in 2001. My parents refused to sign the form to say I could take a box, but either a teacher or a sales person (I can't remember who at this point), told me to just take a box. I went home and ate about 5 bars and then my mom made me return the box when she found out I had been given a box. The company never made us pay for the chocolate bars because my parents never signed for the box. Good memories.

3:18 oh yeah, these kind of showed up out of nowhere i mostly just kind of knew of them due to my younger sibling having them and my mom mentioning them had no idea of the origin or who made them. they were just a thing that was there one day

i think for my experience for the fundraiser things and getting the party stuff, i think it was more of a collective grade thing rather than an individual class that got whatever fun day...I think. But i think i might be mixing up inter-class activities and this had nothing to do with the prize book stuff you were describing.
@TwinRiver10021 сағат бұрын
8:47 I think the most expensive thing i saw on the prize lists i saw from my era was either a DVD player or a TV, pre-flat screen that had the big back to it and that were expensive. if you ever want to do another fundraiser research deep dive, you should look up Captain O from the 1980s. In a bunch of these comics that I had from 1980 to like maybe 1987 or so, there was this fundraiser ad i saw for something called Captain O where you could sell stuff for all kinds of prize points. some of the prizes i remember: - a bike - portable TV - a walkman - roller skates and those are the ones i can remember off the top of my head. Captain O was this blue superhero that had an O either on his head or his chest and at the end of the ad it said to call a certain customer service person, I think each year or issue it was a different person. The one I remember was named Janet. I'm not sure if there's any hard material out there online about this stuff to help you research this, but who knows it could be there. if you want to see proof of these kinds of ads, I would look in Marvel Comics from the 1980s. I'm not sure of the exact year. But I know it would've been in the same year range that Dungeons and Dragons was a thing and had ads in comics. I'd say probably around the era of Advanced D&D was when i saw those ads showing up at the same time to give you a more specific range to look if interested.

2:02 i loved the prizes at the time i think the furthest i saw these were middle school i sort of wanted to do these and showed them to my parents, but they just said no. Mainly becasue it was super dangerous to go out door to door doing this sort of thing. As well as the other side of this being that it would end up with the parents taking these to work and trying to sell to their co-workers. i can't really remember what a lot of these sales were. I think a few of them were cookies, candles and I think pizza dough was the other. I think i just liked the prizes or whatever character theme they used with these. I think the last one i remember was they had Xiaolin Showdown. I think the only fundraising stuff that had way more utility was Gertrude Chocolate. mostly becasue you could see the product in front of you and it was easy to sell as far as wanting it or not. and each bar was a dollar, so easier for change. saw those way more around high school. And I think a lot of kids sold these in school. Even though "technically" they weren't supposed to. But they did it anyway. I think they got around that by selling in between classes or at lunch to anyone looking or interested.

ALMOST A MILLION VIEWS LET'S GOOO! I've watched this video several times but don't have much to add because I always ate a packed lunch. In elementary school I would eat breakfast which often consisted of milk (chocolate was my fav) and mini pancakes or waffles.

Ngl The roms were neat, especially for the SpongeBob Movie it had a rom on it for the demo for the point and click story game of said movie. (Personally, I wish they had the demo rom for the console movie game instead of the pc point and click.)

The PACER test sounds absolutely dystopian. Why does everything have to be a test? We really have managed to make every natural, fun thing into a horrible, embarrassing experience. Kids will run around on their own, but we force them to run like prisoners at a camp. Un--hinged.

Nah I relate, getting a portable dvd player was HUGE for me and my brothers. We had a great selection of movies too, and the rated R ones my parents had no idea what was actually in them because dad was driving and mom was riding shotgun. I really cherish those old times.

I hated the catalog fundraiser. Most of the parents at my mom's work had kids that went to my school. That and I was a twin, so i had a HUGE disadvantage with my family and friends because they felt like they had to buy from both of us. It sucked.

I find Johnny Appleseed day day to be neat because despite the fact that it's more focused on crafts and snacks in school nowadays, it's also keeping a piece of American folklore alive and in the minds of children.
