i am on my hands and knees begging, PLEASE do a deep dive into the imagine series of games. it seems like half the ds "girls games" market was flooded with imagine games, they truly did it all. that said, a video on nintendo wii/ds "girls games" in general would be great

Okay but real talk, I IMMEDIATELY knew what games you were talking about even though the name I know is completely different (It’s called “Léa Passion” in my country”) It was impossible to walk into a video game store without seeing *at least* five different Imagine titles, it was crazy. Even though I never played any, I still remember them (I wrote this before Jelly mentioned it in the video)

I had the "my baby: first steps" as a kid and loved it, the developmental milestones was always super cool as you could watch your baby become better at tasks as they grew; one that sticks out to me was the baby going from needing to be spoon-fed to being able to feed herself- I was always so proud when I got to that point :')

Baby dolls really saddened kid me for some reason. I didn't find them scary or anything but I was afraid of neglecting them, not loving them enough and making them feel unwanted. I was afraid of becoming a bad mom to them because I prefered playing on my computer : ( We had a baby doll that can cry, my sister found the crying sound funny so she would always press on the baby's hand to initiate it and it made me upset and distressed to no bounds because that means I was a bad mom : ( I was a weird kid

I have no interest in having kids whatsoever but I always feel a bit uncomfortable about baby dolls, like they may be neglected which makes me feel awful and sad or a child might just chuck it to one side and be a bit careless which is then just horrifying.

Even Shrek had a dedicated baby sim game to play on the ds. There was also dress my baby web browser games running adobe and later some got onto early app stores. It didn’t end it just evolved . I think the trend is people wanted interactive toys or games since the rise of furrbies etc. I remember some baby alive dolls that had a drop in quality. In an ironic twist in the U.S. in the middle 2000’s was addressing teen pregnancies and abstinence programs in media campaigns. Recalling any of this info makes me feel old lol.

I had never gotten into baby dolls throughout my entire childhood until one day I found one of my grandma’s ancient baby dolls: Annabelle (yes that was actually her name) She was this old type of doll that used acrylic instead of plastic on the arms and legs and head so she was covered in cracks, chips, and scrapes. Her eyes would close when she was on her back but they were always kind of slanted half-way shut. Her hair was good quality but thin and probably dirty. She had no clothes. Idk why I felt so attached but I just fell in love with her and would tend to her every need for hours on end. Sometimes I wonder if I was just very compassionate towards her because of her condition or if it was something spiritual going on.
@charliemayfilms1550
@charliemayfilms1550 Жыл бұрын
Acrylic is plastic though? Do you mean composition? That’s typically what is used for older (antique, not “ancient”) dolls. Composition becomes really fragile overtime and can sometimes even crumble. Vinyl is what is used for most toy dolls today.

I played imagine babyz fashion religiously as a kid, it had actually had some really cool & unique mechanics. There was a garden to grow vegetables that you could then use in a mini game to make into baby food for the baby. You could take photos of them on the catwalk at the fashion show, read to them, play on a tire swing, and play this vacuuming mini game and suck up dust bunnies. I honestly really loved the game which is funny because I wasn’t really a babies kid either.

This video flashed me back to a memory I’d repressed for several years until now, by accident. To keep it short, I was at my cousins’ house, and they gave me a baby doll as a present. I was really young at the time, and wasn’t familiar with the concept of baby dolls that close their eyes; that one did, and it freaked me out. Of course, I still thanked them, but I remember the uncanny valley feeling it gave me led to putting it in an empty little garbage can. But, after seeing it head first in the bin, I felt bad for it and picked it back up before just giving it back. And, yeah, I preferred taking care of pets over babies too.

I kept forgetting to ask my mother to look up how to beat the final level but I never did. It got sent back and I never played it again. I became convinced that it wasn't possible to beat the final level and that they made it impossible so they didn't have to make credits. As a kid anyways. Still sticks with me over a decade later.

oh man, I loved these as a kid and still do. I had my baby: first steps and baby life on ds, and now that I'm an Adult I've bought the other 2 my baby games to complete my set and have also delved into some of the mobile baby sim games. I love babies has a free mobile game, though I think it has a different name, and there's a paid baby game called ilive, where the baby grows day by day and you take care of it in real time. I loved it, but you have to complete so many tasks and it just eats up your day (much like a real baby lmao). baby life is also fun, but repetitive and gets to a point where you've made all the progress you can make and you're in this sort of limbo with an immortal baby. my favorite is definitely the my baby trilogy, it's very fun and immersive, and each game has different mini games and milestones so it doesn't seem repetitive.

I was technically sentient in the 2000s, but when I was fully sentient the game baby craze had slightly died down(?) instead we had a lot more baby-ified versions of pre-existing characters or, and this is the one that was the biggest, a gigantic wave of baby dolls that had technology inside it. so technically still a video game. I do remember seeing ads for baby games, a ton of baby games for tablets, one of which I tried to play and the game was so broken I couldn't do anything aside from take the baby on a walk. (which was kind of like a temple run thing? not as fast but you just walk in a line, get coins, avoid obstacles, and hope you get a good score.) Actually instead the thing that everyone went wild over was animal games. but this time... it was baby animals. Which looking back I absolutely hate those games? I'm a huge animal person and the PSA about people getting rid of their pet once it grows up traumatized me, so now I can't look at a puppy or kitten without remembering it. All hail virtual babies.

5:53 LOL was that early 2000s PC Hagrid or PlayStation 1 Hagrid? I definitely recognize him from somewhere. Great video. Never played baby games myself but I always thought the concept was weird and it’s neat to see what they were like.

I had my baby girl when I was little and I loved it a lot! Especially how the baby grew up and you had to teach her new skills like rolling onto her tummy and following the sound of a rattle

When I saw those genetics in that one game, I had a brief moment of wanting to play the game just for that. Then I remembered I play the Sims, and have been since I was 8. I've already done it.

That blender game tho... so many good memories chilling on my bed at my dad's house playing that specific baby game, and that tinkerbell game from the same era. Good times.

12:00 As someone who has played the DS version of this game as a kid (otherwise referred to in that version as Hello Baby) on some sketchy flash cartridge with virtually every DS game released at the time, I never even knew that a Wii version of this game existed.
