weird question but how did you get a job as a toy illustrator/graphic designer? i’m interested in having a career in those fields. and did the job pay well?
@melonleaf2452 ай бұрын
@@candy-kp8bbnot a weird question at all! I did a four year bachelor of design program at a university but there are lots of options for college and online schooling nowadays! I also recommend networking as much as you can because I get all my clients through word of mouth or through other clients. Finally, the last piece of advice I have is put the type of work you want to be doing in your portfolio so that you can attract the type of clients you want and get paid to do the type of work you want. It’s totally okay to create your own personal projects or mock client projects in your portfolio when you’re starting out. Expect your pay to be lower in the beginning but once you get more experience, you can charge more. You can also find salaried positions, which is what I recommend to aim for when starting out so that you can learn how the industry works and get some experience under your belt before being a freelancer. Hope this was helpful and good luck! ❤

A little fun fact, the sweet themed Kuu Kuu Harajuku dolls sadly ended up being unreleased. And that the show ended off with a cliffhanger. It would have been nice for the series to come back for a 4th season given how the later 2 seasons changed the series from it's OG premise that season 1 had and that the animation also changed and to many, improved from it's flaws. And that season 1 aired out of order when it aired on Nickelodeon in the US. Overall, you did a great video.

It's almost insulting that the critics reduced Kuu Kuu HaraJuku girls to simply "cultural appropriation", im a guy and not into Gwen Stefani but i think it's great she took a genuine interest into Japanese fashion and wanted to show it off, at least to me it doesn't come off as pandering, she seemed legitimately passionate about it

I don't know if it is or not, but I'm impressed she hired actual Japanese women and didn't just go for 'Asian' like other artists. @eatatjoes67512 ай бұрын
It’s the same thing I feel about Flavas, weirdly enough. Yeah, they were corny and reeked of “WE DOES THE HIPPIDY HOP MUZAK” but compared to Barbie’s “one/two/three Black woman limit, and she’s the doll equivalent of perfection.” as a black person I thought they were stupidly charming. *AT LEAST THEY CONSULTED SOMEONE.*
@KasandraJoy2 ай бұрын
@@impposter560I watched it somewhere that the Harajuku girls were only allowed to talk in Japanese even though, if I remember correctly some of them where born in the USA so I think that’s why some people thought she was treating them like an accessory rather than people. Oh. My. GOD!!!! I was OBSESSED with the Secret Central episodes as a kid!!!!! I found them on Hasbro's website, and frequently checked to see if they'd finally added more episodes yet. I tried to find other people who liked it, but no one I talked to had ever heard about it. I had no idea there were toys associated with it. I've wondered for years what the deal with those random three episodes on a flash game website was, but I never expected to actually get answers. Thank you!!!

pinkie cooper at the beginning unlocked some memories for me. I had no idea about the comic but it seems right up my alley

This was EXTREMELY interesting. If you want to make a part two, I'd be here for it!

I actually own quite a few prototypes for Pinkie Cooper! I have some dolls, some of the pets and different ears for them, some prototype clothes and a lunchbox! I don’t know what collection some appear to be from but I have the cabana cool saint tropez ginger that you think is sooo ugly XD

I'm so glad la dee da dolls get a mention in this video, I really loved them as a kid (they were probably the only dolls I actively asked for) and I have so many memories of playing their online game
